Trimetal Permacryl is superb for painting over kitchen units in any colour you fancy. Simply clean, then lightly sand surface, clean again and paint using the small paint rollers.

I think I've seen Valspar in some places. They do a "direct to Metal and Wood" paint, allegedly requiring no primer or sanding. I've used this on my solid wood kitchen cabinet doors. On the first spare test door the take up was slightly patchy, so I played it safe after that and used Zinsser B.I.N adhesion primer first before applying the Valspar on top. As Grouch said above, use mini rollers. Initially I used branded Mohair ones, but these did not live up to the claim of being "no loss". I tried a few others but in the end i used Prodec Ice Fusion mini rollers. They weren't much dearer and gave a perfect finish.

MnM, many thanks, will see what I can find out here first. I am no rush at all and as both my daughters visit with us next year I can get them to bring some out for me. Thanks again.
