Heat Powered Fan
Anyone seen these or similar for sale?
Don’t mind going South if they are there. Any make or model will do.
If the link doesn’t work it’s because it’s an Amazon Black Friday deal only on for a few hours.

Thanks

Re: Heat Powered Fan
Could not find one anywhere and after research on all of them I ended up paying around £90 for one from the UK (made in Canada), one of the best things I have ever bought. So long as you have room on the top of your wood stove then you will notice the difference straight away!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

You can also put in the side using a powerful magnet if no room on the top

I think that the Log Burner shop in Girne sells them.

Re: Heat Powered Fan
Well. I tried the shop in GIrne. He said he has been asked many times about these, but in no way could he compete on price with ex-pats who could get one from the UK.
I then went to the South side and tried Superhome, Leroy Merlin as well as the fireplace shop where our log burner was purchased from as well as one other fireplace shop.
No one had them for sale.
In the end I bought one from Amazon UK and sent it to a PO Box at the end of Ledra St.
Having used it for at least three weeks, all I can say is “it’s amazing”
The room heats up so much quicker. Within half an hour I can close off one of the vents. Another half hour later, I can close off the other vent. I am probably using half the amount of logs that I have used in the previous 13 years.
If you have a log burning stove, you are mad not investing in one. It will pay for itself within a few weeks.
Must go now and take off my t-shirt!

Re: Heat Powered Fan
A friend very kindly let me use theirs.
A few of the fans that I was interested in would not accept delivery to a Cyprus (ROC) PO Box, then I found one that would.
It was fulfilled by Amazon. I did not want to use a company based in China in case of import duties, customs, etc. Delivery was estimated at ten working days and no tracking was available.
My friend had to collect it herself as she advised me to use her name as that is who the PO Box is registered to.
I hope this helps.

Hi Butterflyaway
Been looking at these fans, but there are so many would it be possible for you to say which one you bought to narrow down the search. Many thanks

Thanks for that, it looks good, could I just ask how tall as I can’t see the dimensions on the Amazon site and our fire is in the fireplace so we have limited headroom. Thanks

The metal work is aluminium not wrought iron and good luck getting them to replicate the clever electronics that drive the motor ... you could sell the rebar monster to The Tate.... lolkerry 6138 wrote:Plenty of diy video's on YouTube, try showing a local metal smith the picture sure they could knock one up.

Wasn't aware theres any electronic parts involved, thought the driving force was the heat rising being dissipated horizontally by the blades, which model do you have?

Re: Heat Powered Fan
There is completely different reason for the blades turning called an electric motor powered by en electronic system that uses heat differential between the bottom heat collector and the top heat sink....kerry 6138 wrote:Wasn't aware theres any electronic parts involved, thought the driving force was the heat rising being dissipated horizontally by the blades, which model do you have?

Just want to confirm that there are no batteries and the unit does does not plug into the mains.
Regarding how the “power” turns a little motor, which turns the blades, it’s magic!
Well I don’t understand it, but it works.

Re: Heat Powered Fan
Just got mine today, Amazon didn't deliver the one I wanted to ROC so had it delivered to friend in UK who posted it on. OK with Xmas post backlog took just over 3 weeks to get to POB. Have to say that I am so pleased with it, within 1 hour of lighting my fire I can feel the difference, already moved my armchair back a couple of feet from the fire! Well worth 35GPB plus postage! (was reduced from 40 when I ordered)

Still loving mine!
As delivery to a ROC postbox could be dubious after end of January good to see that Akinlar Fireplace shop now have some in stock (bit pricey but worth being able to get one)
