or so the Mayor of Esentepe thinks. The remaining plastic cubes of the destroyed floating pontoon have been "stored" on the Esentepe plaje and in a river bed. Who would expect a fierce storm to happen in winter? One that could sweep 3-400 of these large blocks into the sea? Who would expect it to rain in winter and cause a riverbed to flush its polluting contents into the sea?
Couldn't happen in this land of enlightened foresight.

Re: No storms in winter
I should get the Genius to listen to the following Albert Hammond song:-
Seems it never rains in Southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before,
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
It rains, man, it rains!!
Albert Hammond circa 1972
Fabulous, I loved the music coming out of the US at that time.

Albert Hammond is famously not American...

Best song... The Air That I Breathe.
The musical era you refer may have had American themes but many were British penned.

Isn't the last line "It pours. Man, it pours"?

Yup - Oooops. Wish I hadn't mentioned the song at all now.
