Can’t get passed the registration page

Since my last post above ....
For those having problems with new website try bypassing the section that asks for your last residency no beginning with a ‘D’ and complete the rest of the form and it should work.

I had all my documents delivered to Girne Police Station in March but since then no text or phone call. No answer when calling their number
0392 6111088. Solast night I had a try at the On Line system using my iPhone. Managed to enter name but going through the drop down
list for 'Nationality' I couldn't find anything relating to Great Britain or UK. Is this a glitch when using a phone?

In the nationalities drop down list you can find United Kingdom, displayed like this...
BİRLEŞİK KRALLIK (İngiltere, Galler, İskoçya ve Kuzey İrlanda) / UNITED KINGDOM

Yes. Completed the registation OK. I'll try for the next part later today. It will be interesting to see how they deal On Line without copies of the Mukhtar's letter, bank statement, not having the two photos, nor the Kojan. All this was left at the Girne Police Station last February.

You will not be able to progress your online application unless you have a muhtar letter, as muhtar letter needs to be uploaded.

Giripon Have you signed up, by sign up I mean you have been sent a text with a temporary password word. You then need to login again with temp password and then change that temp password to your own password. That is when you have an account.

I'm getting very confused with all this correspondence. Are you saying that those of us have gone through the registration stage at Girne back in February, have official stamp and signature, paid our Insurance money at Koop Bank, have got to start again. I certainly hope not.

If you applied at the Police Station, not on line then ring the immigration office for an appointment. I did 2 weeks ago and got an appointment, they kept the appointment and it was sorted, albeit it was backdated to January when I applied.

If you did it on line then yes, you do have to start all over again.

Hi Mollie the cat. Which number did you use to make an appointment? I was given 0392 6111088 and I have lost count of how many times
I have been dialling this number. Or is it a secret time of day that someone actually picks up?

0392 611 1022 or 1023

You may hear music to begin with and some Turkish but bear with it, eventually we got through to an English speaking lady who was very helpful.
Good luck. We rang about 09.30.

I guess I've just got to drive to the building and see if I can talk to somebody.

I tried again today at 0910 and finally got through! Passed on to an English speaking lady, very helpful, and she found our papers were there.
Our appointment is next Wednesday at 10. You're a lucky so and so ozankoys, because I was trying from 10 until 1215 yesterday
and kept on getting cut off!

My husband has been successful and been to Magusa to start the residency - I have been trying on line to do mine but it will not accept my surname even though it is the same as my husbands. It keeps coming up with an error "incorrect syntax near 'Farrell' - our surname is O'Farrell. I have tried many times to ring them without success. They are now asking my husband to pay for the Health Insurance which we have and paid for, but says it is unpaid. It was so much easier the old way of doing the residency.

Have checked everything
We changed our passports recently and entered the TRNC with new passport, showing old passport with visa without a prob.
We have tried registering for residency renewal with new and old passport without any luck
Have also used UKPO in approx section

Have been resident for many years so should be easy but hey ho!!!!
Only use UKPO if it states that in your passport. Mine is IPS and my husband's is HMPO. We registered without any problems.

How long is a bit of string? Am not being facetious. Some people are managing to get through it with no problem, others are facing multiple problems.
I've had to visit Famagusta police station 3 times before getting through that stage. I suspect that the problem has been with Famagusta police not accepting some of the uploaded documents, the way they think it should be, as the online system accepted them. Next stage for me is inability to pay with my UK card for health insurance. I am keeping fingers crossed that it will be rectified today, and then I have the joy of seeing what the next hurdle will be. ((W\))

For anyone who has registered online and are going through each step:- If you suddenly get a message saying that you don't have an account/account not found (sorry can't remember the wording), clear your browser cookies and try again. Had this further little joy this morning.

As the system only appears to accept TRNC bank cards your best bet is to obtain or own TRNC payment card or find a friend who has got one and willing to help and give them the cash

‘How long is a piece of string’ is a good question?!
Ask again when someone manages to complete the process from start to finish using the new online version only!
At the moment, I would guesstimate a couple of months from start to finish, dependant on a number of scenarios
Takes a month to get a TRNC bank card even if you already have a TRNC acct as cards come from Turkey
From date of registration to obtain appointment with the police could be anywhere from several days to several weeks
Medical ?
Bayram holiday and summer working hours might slow things down.

Thanks for the replies. Just gone onto get an account. What type of residency is required. Both my wife and I have had residency for the last 5 years. Do I tick family ? And if so does my wife need to log on to? Sorry to ask but not a member of BRS and cannot find the answer anywhere. I am sure someone will show me. Regards

If you are still in UK recommend you do not register or apply until you arrive in TRNC
Once you apply you will be given a police appointment which will be near impossible to amend.
Also, some of the computer issues may be resolved by Sept (with a bit of luck on your side)
You and your wife need to make separate registrations and applications.
As old fashioned as it is - the husband must apply as the main applicant. Wife applies as a dependent family member.
Recommend you complete your application as the main applicant before your wife starts her application.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks Acacia, it really is a trial. I've just got details for new card which is currently with family in UK....another fail with Halifax Bank of Scotland debit card. I have completely run out of ideas (and cards) now.

It would be really helpful if people who have managed to pay online using card, can let us know what cards work. Please?

The easiest way, because I have done it for a neighbour, is to find a friend who has a TRNC card (enabled for online transactions). This friend can enter his local card details online and the payment should go through - my card was Iktisat bank, Garanti also works.

Immigration/Health people should get in touch with Kibtek/KKTCell for info on how to get online payment systems working for all. I have no bother paying either of them online using Revolut card.

The bottom line is they have to sort the system out to enable any card to be used for payment.

Running around trying different cards or borrowing a friends card is not the solution.

Appreciate that everyone wants to get the payment done and dusted but this does not put pressure on to resolve the problem.

Wonder if the authorities are fully aware of the issues and importantly have a time frame in mind to fix it!

Think TRNC cards have to have 3D authentication to work
Ask your TRNC bank if 3D authorisation has been granted for your card

This is to do with local credit cards.

My new card was ready to collect.

Went along with my passport. All OK. I said I want the card set up for the following, in addition to local credit card POS transactions;

1. ATM local and abroad.
2. Payment as a debit card (as well as credit card).
3. Set up for internet transactions.
4. Set up for use outside TRNC and Turkey.

Their reply "No problem, we have done that for you"

As I had my reservations, I said lets pop outside and try the ATM.

Didn't work.

Back inside and an email sent to card supplier. Waited, tried again, then it worked.

Went shopping, card not accepted at a local POS. Back to bank, another email, then card worked.

This is what is meant when cards dont work. Its that the card has not been set up by the bank correctly.
