Gala Dinner at Elexus -PR

The Gala Dinner at the Elexus Hotel on Tuesday, 14th May was sold out and was the highlight of the fund-raising year for EFRAR 2018.
Those who attended arrived to a drinks and canapés’ reception outside one of the conference rooms which had been sectioned off and beautifully decorated to accommodate the 150 guests. Music was provided by a husband and wife team during the reception.
Moving into the dining room, tables were tastefully decorated with some tables having been reserved for Ministers and high ranking military along with local businesses.
The meal was a culinary dining extravaganza comprising 5 courses which included, hors d'oeuvre, pumpkin, chicken, veal and pavlova.
During the early part of the sit down meal, the husband and wife duo played more music but were then joined by other musicians and played a set of Elvis Presley songs which had some of the audience of a certain age, singing along and tempted on the dance floor.
Raziye Kocaïsmaïl, President of Tulips, made a speech, including thanking all those who attended. This was followed by a reciprocal speech by Mary Watson, Chair Person of EFRAR 2018, supporting Tulips.
Raziye then presented certificates and plaques to prominent members of the audience, including ministers, high ranking military and Ismail Tirali, the General Manager of the Elexus hotel.
Later Raziye was presented with a beautiful cake, made by the hotel, to celebrate the 25th anniversary year of Tulips.
Mary Watson, Chair Person of EFRAR 2018, supporting Tulips, commented: “This has truly been an exceptional evening, from our arrival the Elexus Hotel staff looked after superbly well. They were attentive, without being intrusive, efficient and very affable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They are all testament to the professionalism of the hotel’s staff.
The meal was exceptional and so well presented that it was a shame to disturb the artistry that was on the plate.
When we came up with the idea of having some event in a hotel and Raziye suggested the Elexus, we thought it would lead to perhaps an afternoon tea party. Little did we know that it would turn into a Gala Dinner with ALL proceeds going to Tulips. Our thanks must go to all the staff at the Elexus, from the car valets to the General Manager, Ismail Tirali who was present at the dinner. Special thanks to the Executive Chef and his team for a timely, beautifully presented and tasty banquet. It would be wonderful if this could become an annual event and prominent in the Turkish Cypriot social calendar. Finally, thank you to all those who have supported EFRAR 2018, supporting Tulips, over the last year, in whatever capacity. We could not have done it without you.”
