I've brought many trees and plants from garden centres in the South and never been questioned at the border.

Bringing plants in is very definitely not allowed... just because someone gets away with it does not mean you will.

To be fair, that is why UK has problems ie Japanese Knot weed for one. There are more restrictions now than there were in 1800's. If it is Australia they let NO plant matter over their borders......... I know you are talking TRNC but if it is not native.......

I didn't "get away with it" Groucho. The back of the car was open with fruit trees hanging out. Plain as day to see. I wasn't smuggling, as you seem to be suggesting.

How long ago was that? I brought a tree in about 5 years ago and customs had a look at it and let me through. Last year I asked customs before I bought another tree and they said no.

There are Green Line Regulations which affects Soil, Seeds and Plants. However, the Regulations are for the South side being in the EU (Look at 7.2). The TRNC agreed to these Regulations.

I don't think Groucho is saying that you are trying to smuggle something in, but, you have got away with it one day and tomorrow you may not and, one might say it's being fickle on their part, so if you do get stopped tomorrow it's the day someone may have remembered what they agreed to, roundabout 2004.

I know you cannot bring plants in "with Toprak ( soil ) attached" but many people bring seeds and not heard of problem with them.
