I have been doing a lot of gardening on my friends Villa to get it ready for the Holidaymakers. He wants to pay me for the work I have done. What are the current rates for local gardeners (hourly / daily)? It is a one off job.

We pay 300tl per day, roughly 8 til 4, that includes removing the garden waste afterwards.

How can you expect to pay £5 an hour with a truck included when you look that costs £2 an hour while it is sanding then working to take away the rubbish how on earth can it work when the tax man is going to take more than the profit ?

I am quite astounded by the number of people on here requesting the phone number of this gardening person. Surely, there must be legitimate companies that offer the service, pay a fair wage and contribute to the TRNC economy by way of taxes and employing people with a legal right to work in the country. In the UK, if you knowingly pay someone cash-in-hand and the person is subsequently caught, there can be consequences for both the casually employed and the casual employer. It is not considered a defence that you assumed your employee was taking care of the tax required. Is this not also the case in the TRNC?
