I think it is the place opposite AL Shaheen before you enter the Lapta Strip.

It is the monstrosity that is already partially, illegally built as stevieb states.
The thing should not have been built in the first place because permission was not given so after so many years is permission given. Answers as usually will fit on back of postage stamp.

What a load of nonsense, there is the Celebrity less than half a mile up the road with gambling facility and that's stood empty for yonks, then you have the Merit not so far away. Isn't it sad when you have to tell people members of familty and holiday makers who ask, that we live in a country where the GDP is based on gambling, prostition and tourism a poor third. The Government wouldn't agree though would they. Yet another piece of coastline that people will have to pay to access. Such a shame.

Do not forget Chateau Lambousa whish was supposed to be a 5* facility and is now falling apart.

I guess the brain cell was left in its locker when this abomination was discussed by powers that be!

If the planning of this country continues as it is at present, then the future does indeed lie with casinos and brothels. Friends of a UK friend of mine spent a holiday here recently. They travelled from the Karpaz to Karsiyaka along the coast. Their observations?
The "unspoilt" national park is full of hoards of men slaughtering the wildlife.
The country appears to be one large building site.
All possible attractive views are destroyed by outsize shop signs, unfinished and abandoned buildings.
Much of the coast road could be spectacular, but is totally wrecked by the above in many places.

Will they ever return? NO.

This seems to be the general opinion of everybody that I know who has holidayed here who is interested in more than sun and booze. So better keep on building the gambling dens and brothels.

The target for all of these 5* monstrosities is not the tourist that wants to come and enjoy the country, it is the high rollers who come to spend a lot in the casinos and have a s**g in the nearby brothels something that they cannot do in their own countries ie Turkey, RoC. Greece, Israel, Much of Eastern Europe and a slice of the Middle East (good Moslem countries where you would be decapitated for drinking, gambling and whoring but it is OK to do it abroad).

Hence the wholesale destruction of the Karpaz and the northern coastal route, they are not needed for the above visitors.

The hotel is no way the place that is already built near sunset as it hasn't 225 bedrooms or room for a casino. I think the hotel will be more towards Lapta/Karsiyaka area.

No doubt it is someone in the know from mainland Turkey given the land on a peacorn rent and given lots of help so they can bring all mainlanders here to work in it.

Yes Cyprusishome I do stand corrected, thank you. Again a hotel owner is being given a casino permit but the minimum amount of rooms should be 500. Time will tell how many rooms he will eventually have.

I am sure that Ali Safa applied to extend the hotel which has been standing empty for 7 years at Lapta last year. He has probably got
planning permission to do this now and added a casino to the original plans. I wish he would start giving out title deeds to the homes he sold
7 years ago instead of building new hotels and casinos.

Isn't the place that was built illegally and blocks the view at Al Shaheen meant to be apartments. Perhaps he's intending to knock it down and start afresh? (did I say fresh) I don't think so - the idea stinks IMHO.

The place stinks too! We went for a long walk last year and looked at it properly, we were amazed to find that there are water courses on each side of it and the water cannot get away so is stagnant and a breeding ground for mozzies. I cannot understand how they got permission to build it in such a bad place but anyway, would have thought that they would have ensured that the water could get back to the sea.

Will fall down someday, all that water must be doing some damage to the foundations
