Andrew, I have stayed at Villa Carparis on a few occassions and the rooms are modern and extremely comfortable. There is a restaurant 100 yards away that we've had some memorable evenings at, excellent food and welcome and unlimited barndies have put me to sleep quickly

I didn't see this until today and don't know if you have already visited, but there is also GLARO GARDENS (follow the blue signs with the seagull) It is the revamped Cebiler Guest House and also has all mod cons, a lovely garden and very friendly family looking after you!!

Andrew, try the Balci Plaze (http://www.balciplaza.com). Private beach, good food, clean and a fantastic welcome. In between Yeni Erenkoy and Dipkarpaz. Stayed there many times and love it.

we are also planning to go to the Karpaz when we are over at the beginning of June, as we are not sure about the area we thought we might just "wing it" and not pre book a room, do you think we will just be able to turn up on the night as we are not sure where we will end up or do we definitely need a booking.

Hassan at Balci Plaza always makes you welcome. Lovely beach and restaurant. Well worth paying the extra for the upstairs rooms for the balcony and the view plus of course loads more space!

On recommendation, we have decided to opt for the Villa Carparis - like others, getting old and wanting a bit of comfort. It certainly looks lovely from the photographs and we have had a couple of very friendly e-mails from the management. I must admit, we had almost decided on Balci Plaza, but changed our minds at the last minute. Not going until next month but will post on our return as to what we thought

PS Been visiting TRNC for well over 20 years and have not yet been on an extended visit to Karpaz - better late than never, I suppose

Murat (speaks English and German):05338810161

If you want to be right by the beach, Burhan's Place is great, but he is very popular and it's better to book in advance, midweek you have a chance to get something short notice. Burhan (speaks English well) tel no are 05338641051 or 05428542988

If anybody likes the idea of staying with a Turkish family, eating breakfast, lunch or Dinner with them, ring Pakize (she speaks English) on 05338756299 or me (Eva) on 05338206798

I have stayed at both Villa Carparis & Balci Plaza. The accomodation at Carparis is far superior to Balci, but each has its own merits. Balci is right next to beach, whereas Carparis is in village of Dipkarpaz. Overall for me, I would choose Carparis again for the accomodation alone.
Have tried to book into Oasis for July, but he is already booked & that was trying to book in April for July!!!

Dawnie 1 - thanks for posting that information. I did not realise that Carparis was actually in the village, but that suits our plans (such as they are) very well.
Cheers.

You are welcome Paul. Wish there were a few other options with comfortable bed, air con and a bar or restaurant to go to. Viila Carparis has that, the mozzies in the summer can ruin your holiday thats why I prefer a better room to settle down with

Scarlets, it was on your recommendation that we booked there last year and we were not disappointed. This year we are trying out Arch Houses just around the corner.

Glad you enjoyed last year. I've stayed at the Arch House which is only 100 yards away. It is certainly more rustic but pleasant

If you are staying in the Karpaz you need a good restaurant.

We think the best restaurant in the Karpaz is right next door to St Theresa's Hotel. It is between Yenierinkoy and Dipkarpaz. It is called Halil Alevkayali and specializes in fish. We have been going there for a few years and it is popular with locals. It is right on the sea. Check out the fridge for what is available and looks good. They usually have a good range of line caught or netted fish as well as the usual farmed kinds. You can choose how you want the fish cooked. We think the service is professional.

Manolyam Restaurant by the Arch Houses has a good reputation and it is fine if a bit up and down.

Oasis has such a superb location but you can't eat the view unfortunately.

Balci Plaze has good food and a nice welcome.

We stayed for two nights at the Villa Carparis a couple of weeks ago and would highly recommend it. We had a meal at Manolyam which was very nice and one at the Oasis (also nice) but the wind was blowing a gale down there. We did spend a while on the public beach down by the Oasis, which was beautiful. Clean, lovely sand and crystal clear sea. As a bonus, we were the only ones there apart from half a dozen donkeys who decided to pop down and do a bit of sunbathing further along the beach. All in all, a very enjoyable trip and next time willd definitely do the tractor safari.
