A friend of mine will be staying with me in Esentepe over the Easter period. Before she arrives here she'll be having a stop over in Istanbul for 3 days. Can you recommend a reasonable hotel for her please. Thanks. John

Depends where she wants to be really.
Friends of ours used the Stone House, a smallish family run hotel and were pleased with it.
Google trip advisor or hotels in Istanbul and the comments might be helpful to your friend.

We stayed in Hotel Side. It's simple, clean with en suite and in the middle of Sultanamet. They have a website

Boutique Hotel Mina in Sultanahmet always seem to go down well...

for a short stay and to see the best sights in Istanbul I would definitely recommend Sultanahmet district...

Has your friend decided where to stay yet as I have a couple of suggestions, one of which is on trip advisor.

I can recommend the Mavi Ev/Blue House Hotel on the Sultanhamet side, very close and within walking distance to all the top attractions.

Admittedly it was a few years ago,but I stayed at Mavi Ev and it was excellent.Yes very close to Blue mosque,St Sophia,Topkapi and the tram line, all within walking distance.
