Hi all,
I've tried to transfer rent in GBP to a Turk Bankasi account (not mine) in Alsancak but Barclays don't seem to recognise the TRNC and the closest I can get is Turkey. I have all the receiving account details including the IBAN/UBAN number but this is where the transfer fails.
Does anyone have a work-around for this or any suggestions?
e..g. would it be work if I opened a Revolut account and transferred from there? I have a Chase UK account also which has worked beautifully in the TRNC but they don't do international transfers/payments.

Re: Barclays Bank Transfer to Turk Bankasi
I have transferred regularly from my Revolut account to my Turk Bank account without any problem. There is a fee to pay of course and the first stage of the transfer is from Revolut to Turk Bank UK who will then transfer onwards to my Turk Bank account here. If you need help I advise you seek it from Emine Tomruk who is the Grup Muduru and based in Turk Bank in Girne. She is the most helpful person I have met in any bank out here and has helped me on many occasions. So far I have not tried to transfer rent to my landlord and we are waiting for full instructions to be given by the tax office because we would both rather I paid my rent on either 3/6/12 monthly payments to reduce the cost of bank transfers. The plan is to transfer funds UK to Turk Bank and then transfer from my Turk Bank account to his Is Bank account as required. Right now it is a bit "Up in the air" over what is required, when and how from whom, so we asked and are awaiting a reply.

Thank you Waddo. So it would seem that he woold need a UK Turk Bank account - that would make sense. Do they do the transfer to your TRNC bank account automatically or do you have to initiate it?

Proudspey, He nor I need a UK Turk Bank account - the process is simple but the first step is to transfer funds to Turk Bank UK from Revolut UK, which of course is free. Turk Bank UK then do the rest.
Kerry 6138, Yes you can also transfer direct to Is Bank but there is still a fee for that as well and as I keep my Turk Bank (TRNC) account full enough to satisfy the residency requirements it is a simpler process for me to follow.
