Too late for forestpixie, but if you are unable to pay online lots of garages, Erdener for one, will do the whole MOT process for you. I usually prefer to do these things myself but I draw the line at queuing for hours at a government office...

That nice lady, snd1966 posted this: -

(Note: the section in italics does not seem to apply, see next post)

It may only work if you registered your details by text to 1300 in July time
2. Go to this website https://bub.gov.ct.tr/ (miss out the language if it does not load then choose)
3. Scroll down to see the AKOS online payment and click it
4. Follow the instructions, reg no., passport number used when purchasing the vehicle preceded by a P, date of registration from front of log book and the verification code and submit
5. If that works it should bring up your car details, so you can do that process anytime.
6. On the LHS, the first option should be to pay tax, click on that
7. Next page should show one line with all the details, when due, how much, etc. There is a tick box that you must complete then click submit.
8. Complete your payment details and if successful, it will tell you to print out your tax disc, you can also save a copy. The printed tax disc should be kept in the car.

I never registered by text message and was able to tax both our car and motorbike on line.

If your vehicle is registered in both names as ours are then sometimes you may have to try the second name if the first doesn't work.

Just done mine online - a piece of cake. Took less than 10 minutes...

NB: When entering your passport number - do not enter the first three letters i.e. GBR XXXXXXXXX; Enter PXXXXXXXXX :x))

Just to update, the Girne Tax Office was just chaos today the 2nd September. I arrived at 0945, doors were manned with men denying entry, and around 50 people standing around outside looking up at an illuminated number sign. I was told to come back tomorrow at 7 am.
Very annoying considering I had come from near Guzelyurt which took over an hour.

howardjennnings I have received the following in response to a query about car ownership change, from a usually well informed source:

"Best to go to guzelyurt much easier. Both go with passports, log book and fee.
The office is in the centre of the town not far from a petrol station. No need for a muhta's letter."

If you do try it, please let me know how you get on.

I have done change of ownership of cars twice in the last couple of years at guzelyurt. Max of half hour wait, first time straight in and out. No probs at all as long as you have the docs required!

Funny how paying online makes things more difficult, its supposed to make things easier. I'm helping a friend get through their residency payments and it's unbelievably awkward.

Ditto and I feel your pain ||:((

Managed to do ours and helped my brother and his wife which all went well, then asked to help another couple and it quickly spiralled downwards. Thankfully, managed to get it done eventually. Don't even try phoning them, wasted 2 hours hanging on. They ended up going to Lefkoşa, seen in 5 minutes by a lovely English speaking assistant.

Gates I usually pay car tax in Famagusta, and I think you may also be able to pay at Iskele, although going to try online when it's next due.
