MOVING MONEY TO UK

I believe that only 10,000 USD or the equivalent per person may be taken out of the TRNC on a flight.
I would welcome suggestions as to how to send around £25,000 back to UK. Which is the most reasonable bank? Or moneygram OR any other cost effective methods.
Thnx

Most of the ROC government are the best equipped to tell you which methods work the best.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

Can't you just walk into any bank, open an account, deposit your money and then ask for that particular sum to be transferred to your UK bank. If you have the IBAN number, sort code and account number of UK bank, it should be perfectly fine. You'll need passport and maybe other docs, I'm not sure that other paperwork you need these days to open an account. However, people are sending money out all the time, particularly when they have sold their house and then of course you're talking about a lot more than £25K

As Jonnie says, you can always check with with people down South or your friendly neighbourhood Russian.

This amount is apparently too much for Moneygram
So far, Near East Bank is the cheapest at £120 plus the possibility of a discount!!!!

genghis, I work in a company who deals with a lot of bank transfers to europe in the range of 10K-50K.

your quote of near east bank looks very good, however, you should pay attention or get guarantees that there will be no further cuts/comissions taken by intermediary or receiving bank which is often the case with TRNC banks as they use intermediaries.

At one time, we had as much as 300Eur 'lost' during the transfer and no way of claiming it back.

Hi Kemal, yes that happened to me when I used the IzzyWizzy Bank to send £2000 to Lloyds UK. Hence my attempt here to see if anyone has had a trouble free experience.
Despite their assurance that their commission would be the only charge, someone down the line nicked another £20 and it wasn't Lloyds because I checked with them.
It's very frustrating to be misled and there appeared to be no way of finding out who the culprit was when I complained!! A shrug of the shoulders - customer service Kibris Style!!!!
All part of 'fun in the sun' I suppose!!!!

Get online banking and send it yourself online to what ever account you wish in the UK.

There may be a limit of $30 000 a month but it is free.

Do not know if this applies to you - but if its money from the sale of a second home the present UK Government will take 40% tax from any profit deposited in the UK
