UK FLIGHTS TO ERCAN

What is going on with the cost of flights?
Last year, 21/1/13, we managed to get August flights from Gatwick to Ercan for £280 - this year it seems hard to find anything lower that £480 plus ?? Have I missed something?

It may not be convenient for you but flights to Larnaca from Gatwick in August start from £263

which company are offering these prices please? I have checked Gatwick and costs much higher.............beginning to think 'someone' knows I am desperate for flights and it's a case of 'seller has top hand'!

Had the same problems
Turkish Airlines last year were very good on price (£209 ) to Ercan in June this year nothing under £300 from Birmingham.

Norwegian Air showing between £99 - £132 single Gatwick to Larnaca in August. Flights via Stockholm with various stopover time from 45mins to 8hrs. Friends booked to fly out end May and got good deal. Seems like a bargain.

We have booked Norwegian on 6th September, Gatwick direct to Larnaca, dept 06.00, arrive Larnaca 12.35 Cyp time. They do also on some days do a cheaper flight via Stockholm Most weeks they only fly on a Saturday, but during the summer months fly most days, although I don't know if they offer direct flights on those days.

Just had a quick look to give you an example: Saturday August 16th, one way Gatwick to Larnaca, Direct Flight with Norwegian is £120.90 plus approx £15 for 20kg hold baggage or 10kg hand luggage free.

Dont think this is the reason. Airlines plan requirements and buy up fuel a year in advance at a fixed price. Its more about supply and demand. Plus also flying on a Tue, Weds or Thurs tends to bring down the cost.

If you can book early enough - most scheduled airlines (Turkish/BA for example) allow bookings 300+ days in advance and the budget airlines (Easyjet/Pegasus/Norwegian) allow 6 months in advance then you can get some very good deals. We are out 3 times this year and prices were pretty good but booked well in advance....Easyjet to Larnaca in March £110 rtn, Turkish to Ercan in June £245 rtn, Pegasus to Ercan in Sept £210 rtn.

However, not everyone is able to book so far in advance but Easyjet doing £172 single Gatwick to Larnaca in Aug. As someone hs suggested skyscanner usually brings up some good deals and Norwegian Air look reasonable.
