Indian Embassy in Nicosia

Does anyone know if British Citizens can still obtain visas from the Indian Embassy in the south? I am looking to go to India next Jan/Feb 2013 and need to get a visa, I did get one a few years ago (with a lot of problems attached) and heard that they are not issuing visas now to Brits from the north ! Is this rumour true? Has anyone managed to get a visa recently? Any advice much appreciated.

if i remember from an earlier post you have to submit your passport for the visa to you country of origin ie british is UK
