New tv or pc monitor?

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice from you techies. My tv which I brought over from the uk almost 10 years ago, seems to have given up on me. While I think it is probably repairable ( it seems to be a power fault, could be as simple as a capacitor ) I am thinking of getting a new tv , but since I only use the tv through a Mag 250 box via the internet I have been wondering if a PC monitor would be a better idea? As a tv will have built in signal receivers and such that I will never use. If a simple monitor would work then I can spend more money on a Wide screen, or Curved model? What spec should I be looking for ie resolution? etc..

Any info would be appreciated.

So no benefit in just buying a better quality monitor then?
