I'm thinking Satellite - not cheap, but certainly the most reliable!

If it's just English language you want rather than English channels (BBC, ITV etc) then have a look at d-smart which is a Turkish digital package with a small satellite dish and box setup. I'm not sure how much installation costs these days but we pay 300TL per annum for the full HD package. This includes 10 English language movie channels, all the latest American series like Homeland, Walking Dead etc, Eurosport 1 and 2, BBC HD, BBC world news, CNN, the discovery channels, lifestyle, cookery and travel channels, music channels, kids stuff, etc, etc. Never had a day of unreliability in 9 years.

I can arrange High Definition brand new small receiver with 2 years subscription. You just need and internet cable connection, only 64 kilo bytes speed is OK to keep the system works. You will just need 80-90 cm satellite dish.

you can see my favorite channels list at the attached documents. Picture quality is better than internet protocol channels.

All channels will be sorted. This system have more channels in English commentary than our Local Platforms...

After 2 years, 65 euros will be the renewing cost for subscription another 1 year.

System also have VideoOnDemand movies inside but I cannot guarantee how much is stable, other things works good.

Price is 400 TL including installation.

if you need any dish mount or alignment, it will be available.

thanks...

kerry6138, I use several android boxes, and a laptop and a raspberry Pi all running KODI, and I can watch virtually anything that I want, more or less whenever I want, but as you say, it is at the mercy of the internet. I'm happy with it, but then, I'm happy to put up with the odd 'outage'...

The man specified reliable - and my definition of that is 'it works first time, every time', like an electric light, or a reliable car - and doesn't rely on the vagaries of Turkish Telecom, or TRNC Telecommunications Department

It all depends, I suppose, on 'how reliable' he wants it to be!

ALL of the complaints about 'poor or no TV reception' on this forum relate to TV over the internet - you very rarely see a post complaining about poor satellite reception...
