MAG 250 Problems

I am on my 3rd MAG 250 box in the last 2 years and have had the same problem with all of them

They worked fine for about 6 weeks then started to "re-boot" or just close down, every 2 hours on the dot, then after another few months they started to do the same after 1 hour on the dot, my current box started to close down yesterday on the hour, I have had this box working for 5 months, if I switch off at the plug and switch on again it works straight away.

Any ideas what the problem might be or how I might fix it?

Thanks all

Hi Dave G,
I have a MAG254, had a similar problem, once, sounds like it's over heating.
I created space below, to let air flow better to box.
They do seem to generate a lot of heat.
I now switch it off, when not in use.

But yours sounds more like a fault.

Thanks Navek
I have moved the box to try and get it cooler but I don't think it is over heating, otherwise I don't think it would work immediately every time I switched it off and on again, the other funny thing is it does it at exactly 1 hour or 2 hours intervals and this is the 3rd box

Have you contacted the manufacturer's Customer Service Department or Engineering department? - If anyone is going to know the cause, it's them!

Hi Keith

Would not know where to start looking for the manufacturer, the first one came from China, the second, I have no idea, the third one I bought through Kibcom, I did ask the channel provider if they had come across it before and they said not, because I had, had the problem before they do put the channels on monthly even though I paid for 6 months, they said if they put the 6 months on the box and the box broke they would not be able to transfer the remainder to another box, Good of them
