Hi
I just got a firestick and ExpressVPN works a treat.
For some great advice on Firesticks go to https://www.firesticktricks.com/
I downloaded some great TV apps following the very clear instructions.
Kind regards

ExpressVPN is the one that has the most 'goodies' as part of the package, and boasts the fastest servers.
Please bear in mind though, that using any VPN can cause a decrease in internet speed. You can expect a difference of between 8% & 25% depending on which country's servers you are linked too.
For example;- if your internet provider is supplying a low download speed, occasionally you may see some stalling or interruptions with high definition movies/TV reception
The others you may want to consider are Surfshark and NordVPN. Another point to consider is look for a VPN which has an 'Ad' blocker (these 'Ads' can be extremely irritating).
Do some research on the internet, to see what's currently on offer, and what other users say about the VPN companies.
Hope this helps

Re: VPN and Smart TV with Firestick
Think I'll try that Express VPN. I had Nord VPN on my laptop and 2 mobiles and uninstalled after a few months as my Virgin Media Wi-Fi speed went from 210-219 down to 38 tops. They told me i needed to install a previous version which should fix the problem but it simply updated itself to the new one. They're pretty dire at working round other country restrictions as well. In fact, as i'm with Vodafone UK, i simply connect to Vodafone when in TRNC and can watch any of the Free To Air apps and Virgin Media on TV through my phone with a USB C to HDMI adapter lead.

Surfshark is very good value and you can use this on multiple devices.I use it in UK and worldwide.
Firestick has the Surfshark app ready to activate so no need to download.
Cost less than £2 per month.

If you use Streamvia.com it works with all fof the UK catch up channels and much more. It isn't a vpn so doesn't slow down your internet.

SmartDNSproxy is the one I use, and been happy with it for over a year now. Set it up on a friend's firestick and she is happy with it too. As someone else mentioned about StreamVia, you change your DNS settings, so no slowing down of internet as in using VPN, but VPN is there too should you need it. You can get a 14 day free trial to see if it suits. https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/ Customer service is very good too.
