Netflix and VPN issue
I have a Firestick and a Netflix account and want to be able to watch UK content. I also have a Streamvia VPN but I have to disable this in order to watch Netflix which then only shows content available in Turkey. This doesn't make sense to me. Before I change VPN providers is there anything I can do please? I have tried the Streamvia online help but cannot find a specific answer.

Re: Netflix and VPN issue
I wish I knew how you get Netflix. I too have a Firestick, but no matter what I do, Netflix will not accept any password I give them. I get right to the end and then wallop - "we cannot connect you". Don't have a VPN, everyone I tried, just throws a wobbly. (Sorry if I've highjacked your message JandJ)

I don't use a VPN when accessing Netflix.
If you want UK, English language programmes, use a UK address!

Well, it seems that I did not actually understand how Netfix decides which content you are allowed to view, or what the criteria are for signing up!
I must have just 'struck lucky' in the answers that I gave, and as I can't remember exactly what they were, it's a pretty pointless exercise trying to advise anyone else.
Sorry to be so pathetic, but there's no point in giving bad advice!

What has Netflix got that you cannot get from either a free sideloaded apk on a jailbroken Firestick, or a free torrent site?

Please try contacting Streamvia directly.JoandJelly wrote: ↑Wed 12 Aug 2020 7:30 pmI have a Firestick and a Netflix account and want to be able to watch UK content. Use Streamvia DNS settings, not VPN settings on your Firestick.

I don’t know how Netflix works via fire stick but do use Netflix. Netflix has different content in different countries which it switches around. Eg a latest blockbuster might be available in a few South American countries and might not be available in the US for 3 months and the U.K. for 6 months. This site illustrates the variety.

Netflix decides what content you get depending on your IP address. So if you signed up in England and went to Australia on holiday you’d get Australian content while there. Much of it is the same but tbh the U.K. seem to get a lot less than most countries.
Now obviously if you have a VPN you can fool Netflix into thinking you are anywhere on the world. The US is a good one to pretend you are in as they get double what the U.K. get.
If you do that, you usually need to sign in and out of Netflix after changing countries on your VPN.

Ah Blakey as played by Stephen Lewis.
It was a tragedy that for me the British De Niro is best remembered for On The Buses and never got the credit he deserved.
Here are a couple of clips to appreciate the man's full range.
Not just buses he could do trains too. 40 seconds in.

A minute in we see him as a retired pensioner.

2 minutes in on the Generation Game just to show could alter his performance to any genre.

Sadly no footage survives of his Hamlet at the RSC where he bought his particular gifts to the lead part.
"Is that a dagger I see before me? Oh gawd, aaaarrhh."

"Daggers" is the Scottish play so footage unlikely. "Smiler" in Last of the Summer Wine has to be included in any critique

I thought clip 2 was Last of The Summer Wine?jameslevel7 wrote: ↑Fri 14 Aug 2020 12:34 pm"Daggers" is the Scottish play so footage unlikely. "Smiler" in Last of the Summer Wine has to be included in any critique
But he is such a chameleon you are never sure it is actually him in a part. Luckily he generally has a moustache and wears a cap of some sort.
Yes you're right I got confused with his Hamlet. "Alas poor Yorrick, I knew him well. Oh gawd, aaaarrhh."

To be fair whilst he had a cap on he didn’t have a moustache so could easily be missed. Like I say the man of a 1000 faces.jameslevel7 wrote: ↑Fri 14 Aug 2020 3:47 pm

Pleasure. If you do a bit of research you could probably find a guide that is more in depth. When I used to world travel from my sofa I used to use an app which was very good but I can’t remember its name I’m afraidblueparrot wrote: ↑Sat 15 Aug 2020 5:22 am
