Help with information re mobile phone

I know there is a thread in another section about registering mobile phones but my query is not covered, The phone (not a smartphone) I have used on my Turkcell contract for years has finally given up the ghost. I put the sim card into an old nokia phone and got a text message almost as soon as I used it to register the handset within 90 days. Does anyone know if I buy a second hand phone in one of the shops in Girne do I still need to go to Lefkosa to register it or because it was sold here is it already registered.

Best to go to Laconic Computer shop (Alsancak I went to) and they will sell you a new Samsung phone. The cheapest one is similar to the Nokia. Price was 110 tl plus 20tl for new SIM card and plus any credit you wish. We got one and it really is a nice little phone lt does calls, texts and FM radio. They register it for you and you will need either passport or TRNC driving licence .

I bought a new Samsung as described from a shop in town. Just put in my old sim and worked straight away with no problems. I paid 100 TL for mine.
