Lefkosa Restaurants
Can anyone recommend places to eat in Lefkosa. Have friends staying there in November for 4nights.

We love California. Go past Golden Tulip, go straight at the cross roads with the traffic lights on the way up to the HC. and its on the left, opposite Gloria Jeans Coffee House, just before the mini roundabout with the tall tree in the middle. However there are little, really traditional places in the centre of the old town. Horses for courses.

Sabor for for us too. Lovely setting.
There is also a traditional place behind the mosque that is good.
Califorian is also OK a bit like Ezic.
In the Arasta district there are also a lot of small traditional places in and around the Buyukhan.

There is a beautiful new restaurant in a renovated house in the Arap Ahmet area - think it's just called the Arap Ahmet restaurant.
There were blackboard signs advertising a set lunch for 5 euro - we had it, fantastic value and great setting.
Al la Carte in the evening.

The Califorian is spelled just like that. Was it a mistake I ask?
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

I'm told that it was! - Although on whose part is not clear (well, not to me, at any rate ).Jonnie wrote:The Califorian is spelt just like that. Was it a mistake I ask?
It seems that either a spelling error or a mis-transcription resulted in the Company name being registered as it now appears, and while it is not uncommon for firms in the UK to have a Trading Name which is different from its Registered name - e.g. 'xxxxx Ltd, trading as yyyyy enterprises' they seem to have simply accepted their new monica and got on with it!

I do think that people just pass it, glance at the name and automatically see Californian. The people that took us there for the first time called it Californian and had called it that for years. I saw it immediately as Califorian and they were surprised that they had never noticed......

Thank you all for the input. Have passed it on. Will try some ourselves when we are out December/January. Too hot in September for Lefkosa!

Re the Californian-v- Califorian. I didn't spot the deliberated mistake until the second time, when it came straight out at me from cover of the menu. Couple of weeks back, even the General Manager referred to it as Californian. He did mention they were going to open a branch in Girne next year. Glad to hear that as a lot of their dishes are rather more traditional than Ezic Premier.
