Many will seriously consider the safety of venturing out, we have become accustomed with the new lifestyle, a special occasion for a meal yes, visiting local bars for socialising, not sure.

If there are no new cases between now and the 20th then I'm up for it. Er indoors says no way for her as she doesn't trust anything or anybody, so I'm looking for a new dining partner, preferably female, blonde between 25 and 35 (years not stone), good-looking, fit and with a broad outlook.

Are you sure you would prefer a "Female" dining partner? What about all of these: https://www.healthline.com/health/diffe ... -sexuality Not sure now or just confused! I don't have the answer for you, and it's not me, I used to be a "Bloke" but I don't think I can use that term anymore, not that I have changed but because somebody will have come up with another alphabet soup name for me! You could have asked for a "Lady" but now that won't work either because you will have offended somebody - guaranteed!!!

Anyway, you have already upset all the unfit and above 25 to 35 stone people out there and probably hurt those who don't have a broad outlook as well!

Guess you will have to go out on your own, wearing your face mask of course, and sit 2 mtrs away from the next unidentifiable person who is wearing their face mask and just mumble at each other till the food arrives - lol. It should be a delightful and enjoyable time for all who sit and watch you try to push your fillet steak through the mask after drinking your wine through the same bit of cloth.

Not trying to put a damper on your idea but for me - I will stay in, enjoy my BBQ and a beer and laugh at Boris whilst he stumbles over trying to explain something he has no idea about in the first place. Failing that I can always watch a re-run of the Trump Excuses compilation - laugh a minute.

I can empathise with you, but this would mean that you will never go out again

Waddo, you’re ex-forces. Is that any different from the exercises you did wearing a noddy suit and respirator - and then having to eat and drink while wearing said respirator? All I remember is a face full of biscuits brown soup inside the blooming thing after “blowing forcefully to clear any gas which may have entered” while you have a mouth full of said biscuit and water!

Or perhaps we’ll all have to learn to eat like those elegant Muslim ladies who wear the niqab/burka and delicately lift their veil to put something into their mouth.

I can see a lot of restaurants going to the wall, with those who have posted their views. We only eat in restaurants about 3 times a year but do the bar most nights as we don't drink at home , the lockdown has not altered my husband's view but I have been adding baileys to my ice cream in the last week!!

Mowgli597, As an instructor in that area, YES, I do remember it well but it is a little different to the tortures I put people through just to get the point across at how hard it would be to survive! Here and now I have watched people and am amazed that they think they are safe, everywhere it is just kind of "for effect" rather than for keeping safe. But it don't really matter, ours was against chemical agents and this is a virus, totally different things in my view.

The old S6 respirator was a good bit of kit but it was only ever meant to be worn for no more than 24 hours before a cartridge change, at the very least, and there were lots of things it would not protect you from. The whole idea of the training was to get you to survive for at least two hours and after that it was a coin toss anyway. The old eating and drinking drills, I am sure, were only added to make peoples life a misery and prove how difficult it would be if you had to do it for real.

I trained with the yanks - they would all have died, I trained with the Germans - 50% deaths for sure, but always at attention and I trained with the Belgians - That was an experience as all they had was a gas cape and to see all these little "tents" sprout up in the training area when the "Gas, Gas, Gas" was called was mystifying till I found out that, that is what they had to do, kneel down and put the cape over the end of the barrel of the rifle and get inside the cape!!!

The only time we used to eat and drink was in the over pressure cabin with all the kit off but the decontamination procedure to get in and get out again was not worth it, and more often than not we just went thirsty and hungry for a couple of days at a time - lol.

The tales I could tell - good old days. But never forget that you had to decontam the biscuits first, made them taste of mud and the powder round the top of the water bottle - great stuff, not! Imaging being here for fish and chips and having to powder every chip before you ate it, meals would take an awful long time!!!!

You've just reminded me of something an old friend used to say quite often...."Jeez, there's danger everywhere....always!" (8))

Happy days indeed Waddo! As for the two hours max - sure all we ever were in BAOR was a speed bump so the septics could reach Europe before the 3rd Shock Army reached the channel!

And what was amazing on those snap Comcen inspections in full NBC gear, including S6, was the number of smoking fag ends and cups of coffee laying about.

Sorry folks. Lamp swinging here. Totally ":"

In your own time, carry on!

Yeah, back to life as she is lived here. And the question was - Will you go out?

No, I will wait 21 days and see what happens - but I will have take away which kind of negates the whole thing. (8))
