Hi Saffi. Chis are quite popular with the Cypriots, along with Pekes they would seem to be the most popular toy breed amongst the locals, so the vets will certainly be familiar with them. As to your dog being OK here, there are a couple of issues that you need to be aware of. The main one is that there is a lot of tick and sandfly born disease, but these pose no great danger if you keep your dog well protected with a special type of flea collar, Paraband, which not only kills ticks and fleas but also contains a sandfly repellent. In the winter there are no sandflies, so Frontline is OK November to May. The other main "problems" with dog ownership here are not overly revelant to a little dog such as yours. The worst one is the risk of poisoning, the Cyps lace meat with a lethal poison and spread it around areas where dogs, foxes, cats or even hornets have been bothering them. So you have to be careful where you go walking.

But don't worry, provided you are careful with the above, your little dog will enjoy life as much here as anywhere else.
