Dear friends

As you are all aware, the Coronavirus Pandemic has hit the world and our small country hard and like all businesses, The George has been struggling as a result.

With a history of more than a decade, The George being the meeting point of expats and tourists, I feel obliged to regrettably inform you that we have had to make the difficult decision of temporarily suspending our services.

As the proud owner of The George, I value you all as friends more than customers and I assure you that as soon as this dark cloud blows over it will be business as usual.

Until then, I will still be around as your friend and please feel free to contact me when you feel I can be of any assistance.

George will be back. Until then, Goodbye.

Tis very sad when one of the most popular places in the town is forced to close. I think George did his very best to stay open and indeed to look after his staff. we were in there on Saturday afternoon, when you would ordinarily struggle to find a seat, there were six other people when we arrived. It is just tragic that a place as well known as the George has to close, and the lads who have been there a number of years have now lost their livelihood. I hope that at some point soon things will get better and our well known and loved places can re-open. I understand though that the Street dogs will be looked after.

Unfortunately this is going to be the trend, until foreign tourists are allowed in.

I understand though that the Street dogs will be looked after.

That is a comfort to read, I know they always support the dogs.
