Pool advise please, balance tank not emptying.

Last week I had the bearings on my pool pump repaired. I got it back connected it up and the balance tank would not empty into the pool. I took it to a well know pump repairer who checked it out and found nothing wrong with it.

I reconnected the pump and still nothing. I undid the waste basket and air came out, screwed it back and hey presto pool working again.

The pool has been OK for two days now it wont pump the water again???

Checked the basket no air this time. I am now at a loss what to do next?

Any advise would be appreciated.

First! - check that you have opened all of the appropriate valves! (Balance tank, feed to 'jets'), multiway valve set to 'filter'.

If they are all set coreectly, try opening the 'main drain' valve, to ascertain whether the issue is confined to the balance tank, or whether it is more general.

If it works OK on 'main drain', then you may have a blockage (or insufficient water) on the balance tank feed.

Perhaps your filter is full of air.

With the pump 'off' turn the multifunction valve to 'recirculate' if it has that function, and then turn the pump ON and see whether it pumps water from the balance tank to the pool OK.

If everything is OK with the valve set to 'recirculate', then:

Set all the valves for normal operation, but dont start the pump, and slowly release the ' bleed valve' to allow trapped air to eascape. If the tank is full of trapped air, then this will take several minutes. Once all of the air is released, water will start to come out of the bleed valve, screw it back down at this point and try running the pump again.

If you're still having problems, tell us what happened!

Hi Keith,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I tried all of your suggestions thank you, still not pumping water into the pool, I only have two options I think, have the pump looked at again, although the last time this happened the guy said it was OK, or have an "expert" around to try and resolve it, very frustrating indeed.
