my next door neigbour installed one and apart from being expensive to run is very expensive to use for any length of time. Suggest look at solar heating system as they work too,

Last year I supplied and installed a heat-pump pool heater in a pool in Malatya.ham on brown wrote:Does anyone have a heated outdoor pool?.. If so ho effective is it.
It is only used to extend the swimming season at the beginning and end, i.e. it makes the pool usable at Easter and into September/October. There is no need to use it in summer and in deep winter the weather is too cold and miserable to swim.
It is not cheap to run but as it is only used for about 6-8 weeks per year the customer feels it is worth it.

I have researched on the web and you can install a solar system very cheaply which will extend your swimming season and after installation there is no running costs until parts need replacing, I shall be building my own and installing it next spring

Re: Heated pool.
A solar cover for an 8x4 costs £100 and will extend the swimming season from April-October with 0 running cost and save tons of water and chemicals.
The covers normally last about 2-3 years, but you have to bring them over from the UK (no charge on Turkish Airlines) as long as under 20kg (an 8x4 is about 15kg IIRC)
I've have just 10 minutes ago ordered a new one for us from
http://www.poolwarehouseuk.com/section/ ... 400_micron
I go for the cheaper blue 400 micron as the pool gets very hot in July/August, and would not want any more heat retention

Re: Heated pool.
Can you put a solar cover on an overflow pool though? I thought it would be difficult?
Some are wise and some otherwise.....
