Can a pool pump survive a complete immersion/ drowning?
What's the best advice now, I've turned off the power to the pump, just let it dry for a day or two?

This has happened to me at least twice because we have a very poorly designed balance tank, when it rains heavily the water pours into the pool room, if the sub pump fails my pool pump gets drowned.

The first time it happened I put the motor end of the pump in the oven on a very low heat for about 6 hours, re connected it it was fine. I covered the gap with baco foil to keep the heat in. The second time I had it in my lounge next to the log fire for a couple of days again it was fine.

If the pump was on however when it flooded it will need a rewind, costs between 600 to 800 tl dependent on who does it for you, I know a place in Catalkoy if you need a contact.

I meant to say that was my experience others may advise differently, it may take a while to dry in situ but we do have sunshine tomorrow apparently.

Hi Stevechips,
"Can a pool pump survive a complete immersion/ drowning?"

Yes, happened to my pump 2006/7.
The pump was covered with water, not switched on at any time.
Took it out, opened as much as I could, drained all the water out,
put paper towels in with electrical bits, to absorb any more water.
Sat it next to my central heating boiler for a few days,
with pump at top, motor at bottom.
Put it back together again.
Worked fine.

Probably best paying a couple of hundred Tl to have it done professionally over here though.
Not a big job.
Good luck

Thanks for the replies, opened up the electrics to the sun over 2 days to dry off the workings , and even though the capacitor was submerged on Saturday, the pump started working fine today.
Now , trouble is the water has gone slightly cloudy , is it "floc" I need now ?
I'll have to wait till shops return to "normal" tho.

Did same, left it to dry for 3 days and turned back on. As for the cloudy water, I ran pump for 12 hours per day and was cleared within 3-4 days.
