How long should the pool cleaners be at your property when cleaning and maintains an 8x5 pool, thanks

Minimum I'd say 20 mins for a 8x4/5
To brush your walls. A backwash and a vac.
30mins again minimum.
Suppose it depends on what you call a clean or maintain.

Agree in principle with the timings in msg 2 for cleaning, including brushing the grills. However, what does your contract say, what was discussed prior to the start of the contract regarding the work involved, is the pool water tested for chemical levels and additional chemicals added, how many workers actually attend to clean the pool etc? Obviously more than one will reduce the contact time.

About 2 mins if you're not here.

Get a dummy camera put right overlooking your pool,it could help you get your monies worth and what your paying for

I can understand about back wash but this is a 5min job of valve change.
You cant clean a pool in less than 15 / 20 mins as you have to SLOWLY vacuum the bottom then clean that filter.

Hubby cleans our pool, does a proper job, not less than half hour with backwash.

If a 12M x 6M (72sqM) pool takes 15 minutes, then an 8M x 4M (32sqM) pool should take no longer than 8 minutes.

An appropriately sized commercial grade vacuum head will do a more efficient job than a little domestic one.

It's best not to backwash until absolutely necessary, as the filtering ability increases as the flow decreases, so it's a trade off...

If your contract actually specifies that the grilles and sides of the pool are brushed on every visit, then you're extremely lucky

To speed things up, some operators may be inclined to 'vacuum to waste' on a regular basis - this removes the sand filter from the loop and increases the flow of water, thereby enabling a quicker clean - at the expense of increased water loss. This is the customer's loss of course, not the pool cleaner's and is not a good practice!

Vacuuming to waste is necessary from time to time - after 'dirty rain' for instance, or after the use of flocculant.

A homeowner will inevitably take longer to clean his pool than a commercial operator, he has not, after all, got the pressure of 15 more pools to clean that day

Just stick to your own pool Soner, I don't think you'll make much of a living if you do anyone elses. Our guy does 15 a day I believe.

It’s not the time spent cleaning the pool which is important but the result. I cleaned my pool (10x5m) for 13 years spending about 45 minutes each time. I now employ a legally registered pool company whose 2 men spend 10 minutes per visit. The pool is now always in superb condition, as good or better than when I used to do it. These people have been very well trained.

Have you actually swum from one end to the other? It's a blooming long way!

I use Neptune Pools as a cleaning company and highly recommend them. My villa was empty for months prior to me taking it over, but when I viewed it the pool was sparkling, so no corners had been cut even though nobody was there to check. Kristina, the boss, speaks fluent English and Turkish. Any problems are always quickly sorted out and her cleaning guys very pleasant to deal with.

I've had to stop doing my own pool this last couple of years, getting too old and 'creaky'

But, I have changed to Keiths timings on overflow. Works a treat and less lecky.

Any time soon, we'll be able to switch to Winter Timings 4 x 15 minute overflow sessions, spaced about 2 to 2.5 hours apart, just about enough to keep the pool surface clean.
