Company offers for net-metering systems

Yesterday, we visited a customer for a (free) site survey.
We came nearly to an end when he presented us a brochure showing investments, solar gains and payback incl. package prices for PV net-metering solar systems from a “west Kyrenia area based” company.
It was unbelievable. Everything and everything was calculated to their advantage and on top wrong. Ok, we had our arguments with others… ie, companies in Nicosia, Famagusta and so on, but this is the worst. Those companies “destroy the reputation of others" as well and solar systems in general. You purchase this system and it never will do what was promised.
- The forecasted solar average output per year was given 30% higher as with best equipment possible.
- Electric prices 30 to 50% higher as expected for a normal home with normal tariffs.
- System prices for purely chinese stuff much higher as for european equipment.
For a 4,8 kWp purely Chinese equipment “string concept” system, this company wants (incl KIBTEK approval) approx 10.500 euros.
- The biggest single phase system they offer is illegal to install (rule by energy ministery).
- The difference for the calculated and real “solar gains or savings” for this 4,8kWp system are 800 to 1000! euros per year!
- Even with this “modified” values a wrong payback calculation
- They combine it in “a calculation” with high or the highest possible or even non-existing electric tariffs. They do that to reduce payback times and-or to achieve high selling prices.

Keep in mind:
- A fixed installed PV solar sytem with perfect orientation and tilt can not produce more then approx 1650 kWh per year; NOT 2180kWh/year as quoted. Some others calculate with 1850, also impossible.
With us, but also others, you can get a better system for much less and we still can earn some money on them.
We are in the business since 1999 and will properly calculate your system to get a genuine payback corresponding to your installation situation, as not always the best orientation and tilt is possible.

When you go on a net metering system how long after having your inspection from kibtek and approval from the ministry and kibtek should it take for you to be on net metering? Is there a contact number for someone at kibtek who you can contact to chase up when net metering will start?

We have had full final approval, inspections etc. but weeks later we are still being billed as previously. Not on net metering. No one from kibtek replies to emails asking when we are likely to be on net metering.

Very frustrating.

Can anyone advise or provide a contact number to chase?

you write
We have had full final approval, inspections etc
meaning, you have the final YEK belge?
because, after inspection from kibtek, kibtek issues a paper and that someone has to carry to energy ministry.
if all ok, ministry will issue the yek belge.
this needs to be delivered back to kibtek, both lefkosa main and local office..
next reading should be the "zero" reading.
because, many installations are connected since month and kibtek does not want to credit units which have been produced during this time.
the next reading should be net-metered.
depends when your last reading was, this might take 6-8 weeks..
it is best that you walk in to your local kibtek office, of course having your YEK belge and all infos in hand, and find the person in charge...
not calling or writing emails... thats.. useless.
we do the same.
