Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
I've not noticed any problems over the last few days, but then again, I don't watch football - which could be a clue...
It's not just 'us' British Expats who are trying to watch the matches - millions upon millions of people all over the World are all connecting to the Servers at the same time, trying to watch the football.
It may well be the servers themselves that can't cope, rather than anything at our end. In any event, the extra Internet traffic generated Worldwide by those millions of people will have a knock-on effect on all Internet users.

Although we use internet for TV we also maintain a minimum Digiturk passage which costs about a fiver per month. All the world cup matches are shown live on TRT - Turkish mainstream channel, fantastic picture and no cut out problems. Commentary is in Turkish, but hey-ho who cares.

Totally agree Mark - have the same.
Full HD and when two matches are on at the same time it is easy to channel hop from one to the other during the match.
Also available in 4K.

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
I am not gloating, I am with Multimax and have not had any problems with watching Football or any other TV.
I am just mentioning it as it might be the device that folks are watching the TV on and not necessarily the internet connection.
This isn’t to say I never have problems with the internet, I do - but that is usually when there is a major outage.
I would have thought that if the internet locally was overloaded it would affect everyone.
I am no expert but I use 5GHZ WiFi through my router rather than 2.4GHZ and able to watch live TV at all hours without
problems 99% of the time.
Iam sure someone will be along to say whether this is what makes the difference or not.

I also had trouble with internet at the weekend and had to resort to some old tech. TRT on local TV! It works so don't knock it.

Well, seeing as all the other channels seem to be working OK, I would take a guess at the millions and millions of others who are also trying to watch the World CupNavek wrote:Tried watching world cup via subscription IPTV & Mobdro.

Who on Earth would want to watch grown men wearing skimpy shorts chasing around a field after a ball, and taking their shirts off & kissing each other if they manage to kick it?
Hold on!!!
What channel did you say it was on???

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
I wouldn't dream of adding insult to injury, or further upsetting those unfortunates who are suffering disruption to their desired/hoped for access to some sort of minority niche enjoyment, but here in the UK I am suffering some similar sort of disruption - while TV reception is 100% (be it terrestrial digital, satellite or ISP provided), for some reason an unbelievable number of reasonable, sensible and enjoyable programs have been removed in order to broadcast some mediocre displays of some people kicking a ball about....
What could possibly be interesting about that...?

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
As I have said before I am no expert on the internet, but as I do regular speed test just for curiosity reasons I have found
that even though my Live TV viewing is working as expected when I do a speed test it can be very low but no buffering
whatsoever on live TV.
I have a VPN router which gives me the choice of sending data through the VPN router or sending it through my ISP
router, there have been instances where I have no internet through the ISP router but can get internet through the VPN router! How that happens I don’t know as it shouldn’t work.
I do think though that a lot of problems re viewing live TV seems to be in the hands of the maker / supplier of the ‘Box’ that receives the internet.
I am just highlighting this as it seems everyone has a different story to tell when it comes to the internet of things.

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
Well, tried to watch England v Belgium tonight, no joy.
After suffering constant buffering, unplugged everything and rebooted everything.
No joy, 5 seconds viewing 5 seconds buffering.
Ran speed tests, all seemed OK, but no constant TV.
Contacted ISP, everything OK.
Contacted IPTV provider, everything OK.
So it must be my end, I don't think so, TV OK throughout the day.
Spent almost an hour trying to get ISP & IPTV provider to check my connection speeds.
Missed the whole 2nd half.
The IPTV provider did send me a copy of their test,
Which read...
"Hi, the problem is 100% not our end."
and... This means nothing to me.
ISP will pass my problem on to Engineers,
they did not seem interested in the info from IPTV provider,
but I sent it to them anyway.
Watch this space
May be the Pub for the next game

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
Navek, I think that you are missing the point that it may be the server that is originating the transmission which is overwhelmed by the number of connections - that is, the server belonging to the TV Company who had cameras at the football ground.
I think that your IPTV provider was telling you that all of their systems were working OK, and that there were no actual faults at their end, but I doubt that they tried to actually view the particular stream that you were trying to watch, along with those millions of Chinese
I might be wrong of course, but when all of the other channels are working OK......

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
Hi Keith,
If that was the problem, then everyone else watching the game,
would have the same problem as me, did they?
I've managed to get both ISP & IPTV provider looking into it.
Hope one of them can sort it out.
Both MAG254 & Android Box were playing up.
Nvidia Shield TV Box was OK using Mobdro, but picture quality was a lot poorer than MAG254.
I've checked all internal settings, all seem to be OK.

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
I agree Keith, we can watch Amazon Prime live broadcasts of Eastbourne tennis in HD with absolutely no problems whatsoever even when the footie is on... The BBC and ITVHub servers must be being hammered but the network backbone is fine...As soon as I switch to BBC live TV it is very flaky - If I use Mobdro FilmOn it works pretty well albeit at lower res...

Re: Trouble last 48 hrs with internet
We could have watched England versus the Phlegms on internet TV with no buffering, as I kept flipping back to see if it was working OK. We chose to watch on Dodgyturk because the picture was slightly better, I can't stand that twerp Glenn Twaddle on one side and (dare I say it) the sacreligious abomination of a female commentator/pundit on the other. I'm sorry but I think women are great in the right place (if you get my drift) but not annoying the chaps while the footie's on.
I'm not sexist, by the way.

You are so right the 'ladies' talk far too much common sense and tactics and use nowhere near enough cliches... it just confuses us mere mortals.... I suppose at the end of the day, they will get to learn how men can wax lyrical forever without saying anything of note...
