Problem with Laptop

My Acer laptop has suddenly started to randomly turn it self off. Sometimes I get an error message saying there is a problem, so info is being sent to Microsoft and it will automatically restart. Other times, it just shuts down and power goes off, and other times screen goes blank but power stays on so the only way to turn it off is to hold the start button down (there is probably a technical term for this), which I don't really like to do. Can anyone give me any advice or point me in the direction of a reliable computer repair shop please? Thanks in advance.
