Need internet for 1 month stay, help?

I am coming to North Cyprus in May and will be staying in an apartment which has no wifi.
I need to connect my computer to the internet for my stay?

Is there any way I can do it?

I have an old unlocked dongle, it is maybe 8 years old, would I need a new one.

Is there anything I can do via telecom or turkcell?

My laptop doesn't have a CD drive .

Any help from experts out there gratefully received, I have been helped many times on this forum and hopefully someone will have a solution

No. The economics of sending engineers to install equipment for one months of service and then have to go and take it all back again do not make this feasible. Then you have the issue of 'load planning' and other complications.

The minimum term for a MM connections is 6 months. Once that point is reached you can then pay monthly (at a higher per month cost then 6 monthly or yearly) but you can not sign up just for a month I am afraid.

I always use a MiFi, you can buy them at home, and then buy a data sim card in Cyprus, I use Turkcell at Lemar in Karakum, very reasonable price for data. Although I have the internet at our apartment, I always use the MiFi when out and about, works well, and very fast.

If it was your own place and you are planning on coming two or three times a year for a month etc Multimax do a package with an annual subscription but then you only pay for the day you want the internet...

At some point after 3 months I think you must register the MiFi as it will stop working

Have you been using it for more than 90 days in a calendar year ? This is what would trigger the need for registration. The MifI will just look like a mobile phone (anything that takes a sim card itself will) and will have its own unique IMEI number. If you use such over 90 days in a year then it will need to get registered to keep working. Under 90 days and you are ok.

My daughter brought a mifi over from the uk used it for 2 weeks. She left it here unused and when she returned about three months later it was not working but was still in credit/ A trip to Turkcell followed and she was told it must be registered and duty paid as it was imported.

What about a Vodaphone device with 15GB data for £45 or £50 for a month? Or if your old dongle is still working a data sim?

Right I now have a mifi device for when I get to the north.

I am out Tatlisu way so telsim or turkcell - I might need 20 - 30 GB data?

Hopefully it will be just a slot the sim in and play, but I never find these things quite that straight forward.

What sort of quality of connection might I expect with a a data sim with either turkcell or telsim?

Would it be good enough to watch some video on the laptop?

I am online and have 20 GB of data for up to 30 days which is perfect for me.

In Autumn I might need more at the end of the 30 days so would need to top up the sim with more data.

Is there a way of doing that online does anyone know?

Not sure if you can top up on line, but if you know the number a lot of supermarkets have the ability to top it up for you, taking only 2 or 3 minutes.
