21 inch LG Monitor for sale (Removed from Sale)

Only used for about a month. I bought it to go with a PC, but the hard drive melted so replaced it with a laptop and monitor became superfluous.

I had hoped to removed the monitor on my Lenova laptop and conect the 21ins monitor, but I'm told it would cost too much to convert. If anyone knows how much and if it can be done, then I'll keep the LG and accessories.

There is a Logitech camera and two speakers in the price.

80GBP the lot.

Your laptop must almost certainly have a socket on the back into which an external monitor can be plugged - the laptop socket should be either VGA, DVI or HDMI. There may be one or two of these three sockets; the lead from the monitor will also be one of those three types. Even if the lead plug from the monitor does not match the socket on the laptop, adaptors (vga/dvi, vga/hdmi, dvi/hdmi) are available. Once the monitor is plugged into your laptop (via an adaptor if needed), all that is necessary is to press the appropriate function key (Fn + possibly F7), depending on which model of Lenovo.
I've had laptops from a 1992 AST Premium Exec 386SX/25, 1997 Toshiba Satellite 300CDS, Acer and Dell (c2005), all of which I have and still do connect (when required) to external monitors - so you don't actually "remove" your laptop 'monitor', you just plug in and switch to the external monitor - no "conversion" necessary....
"Conversion" sounds like a scam.....

for info.

conversion would be from an analog input/output to digital input / output. VGA is analog. DVI can support both analog and digital but does not always support analog. It will always support digital. HDMI is digital.

I have for example a monitor here that is VGA input only. My PC graphics card has DVI, Display Port and HDMI outputs but the DVI output is only digital. Thus there is no way to connect this graphics card to the VGA only monitor directly. It could only be done via some kind of digital to analog conversion box in between.

Samboy, thank you for your message but I think you might have misunderstood me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my Lenova laptop and it doesn't need repairing other than it only has a 15ins screen so I was hoping that it could be removed so I could utilise the 22ins monitor. Although I can't understand most of what Erol has said, if I read it correctly he's saying that it isn't possible to do that. So it looks as if I'm stuck with a monitor I can't use. I was hoping to sell both the monitor and the webcam as a package. Having looked at current prices on the web for both monitor and webcam, it seems to be a good deal. Thanks for your message.

If the input on the monitor is analog (vga - 15 pins in three rows ) only and the output on the laptop is digital only then no you can not connect the two directly. Or visa versa - if the input on the monitor is digital only and the output on the laptop is analog only (vga) then same is true.

If it is the laptop that has the analog output (vga - 15 pin) rather than the screen that only has vga input then I would happily swap a screen with you that would work and connect directly for your screen. However I suspect it is the screen that is analog only (VGA - 15 pin connector) in which case I have the same as you, a screen that is of no real used to me. If you could put a picture of the inputs on the screen or give an exact model number for it I could be more definitive.

I have a couple of adaptors, one of which may help if/when you discover what is needed.

I have adaptors which allow a vga monitor to be connected to a hdmi output on a computer/device, and adaptors which allow a monitor with hdmi input to connect to a mini display port on a computer/device.

I realise that these are limited options, but we might strike lucky!

I have seen sophie's laptop in the past, but I can't remember what connectors it has...

Regards, Keith.
