map of the hospital
Dear Kibkom Members,
I would like to announce that from 12.01.2017 Thursday we will be accepting our patients at our new hospital in Karakum region. The name of the hospital is '' Dr. Suat Gunsel University of Kyrenia Hospital''.

As you know for the last 2 years i was accepting my patients at the Near East University Kyrenia Medical Centre. But because of the increasing number of patients, the lack of developped equipments, and the absence of patient admission wards we became in need of a proper fully equipped hospital.

UNIVERSITY OF KYRENIA HOSPITAL is a last technology fully equipped hospital. There are 38 ward rooms and each of them are private. Also 8 operating theaters, 2 intensive care units, 1 newborn intensive care unit is included. There is a cardiology centre with an angiogram theater, radiology centre with MRI,CT and USG scans. Any kind of departments will be taking place at the hospital and of course a 24 hours running EMERGENCY ROOM.

We also set up a new GP SURGERY DEPARTMENT at the hospital. All the previous system that the patients used to know from Near East Kyrenia Medical Centre will be the same here and we are still keeping all the patient information and records. Dr. ŞİLEM and i will be running this department together. All the staff taking place in this department will be English speaking people. There are also English speaking staff which will guide and help every single patient from the entrance to the exit.

We will be using the same direct mobile number we have used before and it is 0 548 888 0153. And my email adress is [email protected]. If you'd like to ask any questions i will be verry happy to answer them all via email or from the kibkom forum. Also i am attaching a map of the new hospital to this post.

All my staff and ı wish you a very healthy and happy 2017.

Kind Regards,
Dr. TURK

I would really like to move to Dr. Turk now he is in a hospital in Girne, but do not understand the map. Could someone give me simple directions coming from Lapta, through Girne High Street, straight across the big roundabout on the road that takes you down to Bellapais traffic lights. I know that if you take a right at the roundabout after the Bellapais traffic lights you are on the road to Karakum with Lemar on the right, but but the map doesn't seem to show that. Help.

If you head for the port, you'll come to a roundabout (Pia Bell Hotel on left), soccer pitch at 1100 on left, port road straight ahead. Take the 3rd turning off the roundabout for Karakum, pass Lemar on your right, Harley Davidson m/c shop on right. Follow the road, pass the Stroll Inn on your left and the hospital is signed on left. Good driving.

Thank you for your detailed description tomsteel. The only thing is turning left from the main road is just before the stroll inn coming from lapta region.

Dr. Turk, many years ago I was registered with the old VIP clinic,, but never moved to the Near East clinic because I didn't like to go to Near East Hospital. Did my records move or do I need to come in again to register, also do we make appointments to see a doctor or is it a "drop in"

I took my wife to the ENT Dept of the new hospital today (Thursday). While there I asked if there was any way I could see Dr Turk about a problem of my own that had arisen overnight. I was immediately shown into his office and after examination I had an X-Ray taken in the new Radiology Dept. This was followed by a discussion between Dr Turk and a specialist heart professor to clarify something on the X-Ray . I have nothing but the highest praise for Dr Turk and also for all the staff who helped my wife and I, in particular a gentleman called Eddy who spoke perfect English (with an Australian accent) - he could not have been more helpful.

There is still a lot of installation work in progress, but do not be put off because the medical care is excellent. Oh, and all this only cost 153 TL!

Thank you for your kind words PapaBravo.
Stellasstar1 after VIP we had to move to Kolan brıtısh hospitals kyrenia branch and then to near east medical center in kyrenia. But we couldnt get the records from kolan according to the rules and regulations in TRNC. your records must be there. you can register with us again. And yes the best way to see a doctor here is making an appointment.
Mimi2 there is no registration cost. You can pop to the hospital anyday to register.

Hi Marisa,
We left the dentist at the previous medical centre in kyrenia. He keeps seeing his patients there. After a while that building will be reconstructed as a dental hospital.

We went to register this morning. There are no signs within the overall campus to direct you to the hospital building. Brilliant reception staff having been directed there by a helpful local. It's also a fairly long walk from the 1st building of the campus from the main road to the hospital for those with mobility issues. However, these points are raised to improve a new complex, which is growing and much needed for those living east of Girne. I hope I never need to frequent the site, but am reassured by what I experienced if I do.

Not quite sure where you parked Tomsteel but I parked very near to the reception area., so was just a short walk, but I also had a helpful Cypriot point me in the right direction, but it is still so new so am sure there will soon be signs showing us the way. Very helpful staff on reception, so I was very impressed with the whole place and of course Dr. Turk,

Our only parking option was near the ATM by the Rector's office as everywhere else was chokker. Still a new site, so once the on going work, signage and parking are sorted, it will be a 1st class facility.

Dear Dr Turk

I wish you all the best for your new place!

I will follow you to any place you are going..

But this new hospital needs some better signs please.

Last week I had to bring my working friend who nearly fainted in our office and I got lost ( first I went to the former place and because they did not say anything about the new name we lost lots of time).

I was not sure if you moved to this place but now I am happy to know this.

Good luck

I have had my mother admitted into the geriatric ward now for over a month, all very nice in the beginning all very attentive, the care she now is having she might as well be in the state hospital every time I visit my mother she is not cared for nobody pops in to see how she is her napkins are always soiled she has developed nappy rash which she never had at home , I was told before I admitted my mother in a written statement that there is 1 carer for every 4 patients but not the case they work on the minimum staff so tell me how is that care for a private hospital so so disappointed every time I try to make a complaint it's dismissed they can't except it all I want is good care for my mother who by the has dementia I thought I put her into good care but to no avail and as for the cost I was told it would be this amount a month but my God the petty things that day charge you for is unbelievable so please everybody always ask a lot of questions I am very disappointed

Also by the way if you admit a loved one in this new hospital please make sure that you don't leave any of their personal belongings i.e. Money as my mums second week in this hospital my mothers bag was tampered with and £200 stolen in her purse I was told I could call the police into investigate but what I was told that there cctv has not been set up yet bad show as this hospital has been open since November 2016 they made me feel that I was making it all up but if you could see the pictures that I took my mothers cupboard was a complete mess I was completely shocked I wished now I did call the police but was the point I have no chance with this lot

Sorry to hear of your mother's situation but personally I have found the police most helpful in situations of crime. It maybe worth going to the police station to record it so if another crime occurs at the hospital they do have a record. This way you leave the door open if they choose to investigate, as they should understand with the worry of your mother why it was not reported at the time.

I am sorry about your mum and her condition, but why would you leave £200 in her bag when she unfortunately has dementia? My husband has ongoing health problems that have required hospital admissions and I always take any jewellery he's wearing home with me and leave a small amount of money for incidentals.

Thanks for support tomsteel ,whilst waiting for my appointment on Wednesday 7th June to see Dr Silem which was booked 3 months before I sat next to a couple I know they too were complaining about the disorganised system of the hospital to many chiefs and nothing done and how arrogant the reception are.I was arranged to see the top man that afternoon Dr Niall regards the theft his secretary phoned me to go down to his office but guess what he was no where to be seen had an emergency so he got head nurse Turkan to see me I was livid how cowardly not good enough can't deal with theft ,he would rather deal with his VIP Turkish patients I have seen with my own eyes.I could carry on with lots of other things that I have witnessed upstairs on 1st floor with other patients they are complete phonies,

It is not so state of the art because it has no facilities for chemotherapy or radiation treatment which I would expect a state of the art hospital should have this service and yes disorganised and very expensive

Interesting postings on this hospital! Can I ask whether they give away free MRSA there like their big brother Near East?
