I had a total hip replacement here in the TRNC six weeks ago, total success, couldn't be more pleased ! Walking without any sticks and totally free of pain ! I've got Dr. Huseyin Kalgay to thank for it ! I had it done in the Etik hospital in Lefkosa, in hospital for three days, excellent care and after care !

I had a double hip replacement last year at the Apollonion hospital in the South. My surgeon, Stelios Hadjichristofis was excellent and a few other members on this forum will also endorse this. With regards cost it was very comparable with the cost in the North but you do also have to factor in the materials used. I opted for Oxinium and XLPE implant which to my knowledge were not available in the North and they allegedly are the best and will hopefully last me my lifetime without the need for revision surgery.

Kamiloğlu Hastanesi - also known as the Kyrenia Medical Centre.

It's down Isıl Sokak, that's the street where Pertev's veterinary practice is.

No connection!

I had spoken with Judy a while back as i was having hip problems Judy recommended Stellious at the Appalonion in South Nicosia, had it done 9 months ago and what a difference its been, the level of care was outstanding There cost was 8000 Euros but they found i was diabetic and treated me for that as well hence the extra cost, was in hospital for 5 days

I would second the care at The Etic Hospital in Nicosia. I have been in there several times as a day patients and a stay of 6 weeks and always received excellent treatment. The food is not great, but there are several good take aways near by who deliver! I do not think the food is good in any local hospitals. Dr Guven is the full time General doctor there and is always conscientious in his diagnosis and points you in the right direction. Dr Tarik Ikbul is the General surgeon and they have specialists for pretty well all medical problems.

I forgot to mention that my hospital stay was 6 days but that was because I had both hips done. I also paid an additional supplement to have a private room of around 1500 Euros.

Hi
i KNOW this has been asked before but thought i would ask again as people who was asking might have more up to date info
i asking about info regarding getting one hip done but here in the North, if some does not want to post here please message or email me or give me a number and i will call you or you can call me
looking for where you had it done how good was the Hospital and doctor and off course over all service, how long in hospital and how much, was the price quoted correct or charged more later, has any one info on this service re near east hospital and is there any difference between their hospital in Nicosia and the new one near Kyrenia. how good and what was after service, well any info PLEASE

i ask about charges as i had a by pass done here and was quoted a price and was overcharged when i was in no position to argue, well i did and made no difference but weeks later i saw my specialist and told him he went mad at me for not telling him sooner and went off, weeks later i got money back and was charged the original quote

BUT heart op was fantastic as was hospital and all services

I had a bilateral hip replacement operation last year but not in the North, in Nicosia in the South. I can not speak highly enough of my surgeon. If you are interested in going to the South please contact me and I will give you further information. Judy

Hi, my husband had his right hip replaced here 2 years ago, the Orthopeadic Consultant was Dr Hasan Gumuşdağ, he has his own clinic in Lefkoşa but the surgery was done at the Kolan Hospital. He went for a consultation at his clinic and the surgery was done the following week at our request, but could have been done sooner. He was in hospital for 2 nights only, the surgery went very well and the staff at the Kolan were brilliant and he was back at work 3 months later.
We were recommended to him by friends of ours who have used his services.
Dr Hasan is a local guy, very nice and very thorough. It cost £6,000/- sterling then.
His office number is 0392 680 8080 and his mobile is 0542 868 5098

May I strongly advise anyone having a hip replacement/resurfacing/revision to ensure that the prothesis used is not metal on metal but ceramic/plastic. The metal on metal has now been found to cause cadmium cobalt blood poisoning. This can and has caused serious bone and tissue damage, personality changes, health problems, tinnitus and can possibly dementia. See https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/repl ... 006e8a804a
