Reading my symptoms in Google.I have this occasional unbearable pain especially in my big toe..anyone else suffered with this and can recommend a doctor in the Girne area.Oh I have been taking Ibruprofen for some relief

Mike, you have my sympathy.

There is a simple test though. They search for Uric acid in the blood. You could get a blood test done quite inexpensively.

Otherwise, like me, you may just have arthritis.

Thanks Sue......Coincidentally my partner gave me a Urine bottle last night.So will fill in the morning !!! I assume I can take to any lab for them to test ,,,,Thanks again Mike

Mikelapta - please be very careful taking Ibruprofen. My wife took it for a period of time and lost her stomach lining

Please be careful about both diagnosis and treatment. There are other forms of arthritis which have similar symptoms including uric acid. AlsoZyloric which is sometimes prescribed can cause kidney and liver problems! I repeat only CAN I do not want to be alarmist and it is usually if you have a predilication to such

Zyloric is simply a trade name for Allopurinol.

Some side effects are listed here - although the side effects of drinking pure water can be quite severe

Went to British Medical Laboratory for blood and urine tests yesterday.Will know results tomorrow

Allopurinol is only used for preventing the build up of uric acid once you have gout you need to start using indomethcin which I am using at this moment in time. It is available but you might need a prescription you could ask at a pharmacy.

My husband took Allopurinal and it reacted very badly with a medication he took for his COPD.

So results from the British Medical Lab in Kara,,,,etc Yes problems with both liver and kidneys......and need to see a doctor !!! This is part two !!!! Anyone recommend an English speaking doctor that I can phone up and make an appointment,I have of course got the lab reports,Thank you Mike
