I have been asked to make people aware that there is a virus going around. It could just be an isolated case, as sometimes it can be.

Someone I know here on the Island has a son on holiday here and is in intensive care at a local hospital.

On Thursday he developed chest pains & an upset stomach. His parents took him to a local hospital mainly because of the chest pains. After examination and various blood tests, he was told that his son has a virus and that it is very serious because it is attacking his heart muscles, and causing damage to the heart. He is undergoing treatment as we speak and is looking to make a full recovery but this can take up to 3 months because of the damage the virus has caused to the heart. If it was left then the outcome could have been so much different.

If anyone develops symptoms like this, then please, do not leave it. Go to the hospital.
