Laser eye surgery

Hi

Could anybody recommend an eye specialist who can also carry out laser eye surgery if required?

All my family have used this optician, we have found that he will not recommend unnecessary treatment unlike some other practitioners. I have not used him for laser treatment though he does offer that service. His name is Mustafa Guvenir, this is his website

The guy who works in the Kyrenia Medical Centre (near Pertev the vet) has all this modern equipment and was recommended to my wife. We have attended his clinic and shortly will have him remove a cataract. He told my wife more about her eyes than any optician in the UK and we think he is well worth a visit.

For those who have an interest in this type of surgery allow me to give an up to date summary of the costs.
Yesterday my wife and I had eye tests which confirmed what we both suspected insofar as we each need surgery for cataracts on one eye.

Costs so far - Eye Test 150 TL.
Blood tests, needed ahead of surgery, taken there and then - 245TL.
Cost of operations next Friday, predicted to take 40 minutes - 3,500TL.

I haven't a clue re the UK private hospital costs but in Sterling terms the costs circa of £500 seem quite reasonable to me.

The surgeon is Dr Ogun Olay who has excellent English and was recommended to us.The operating Hospital is Guvenir Goz Hastenesi (Tel 223 66 40 - 41) which I understand is close to the Metehan crossing.

For those who reside, as we do, on the East side of the island Dr Olay has a Surgery in Gazi Magusa each Saturday at what appears to be a Hospital of the same name where his eye testing is equipment is all very modern, although surgery is carried out in Lefkosa.
