KADS Donates Over 5000TL to SOS & KAR

Kyrenia Amateur Dramatic Society (KADS) donated 5,120TL to SOS Children’s Village and Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR), on Thursday 25th February, 2016.
Some nine members of KADS, came to the SOS Youth Facility in Girne to present the donations to SOS Youth Facility Manager Salahi Tözün, and KAR committee member Ann Bosley, who both presented certificates of appreciation.

KADS treasurer presented the donations, which were proceeds collected from the two performances of the Christmas murder mystery play Turkey & Tinsel, performed at JK’s Bar in Lapta, and the Pia Hotel in Girne, in December 2015.

SOS Children’s Village Fundraiser Şirin Damdelen thanked KADS for their loyal support, adding: “Since 1993, SOS Children’s Village has provided family based for children who lost the care of their biological family”.
“With its Family Strengthening Project, with support by the European Union, it also provides crucial support and services to families at social risk. With its advocacy work, SOS works with the state and other organisations to promote and protect child rights.
“Currently, there are 63 children getting care at the SOS Children’s Village in Lefkoşa, 40 young people here at the Youth Facility and in the semi-independent programme, and 129 children and 51 families supported by the Family Strengthening Project.
“Thanks to loyal donors like the Kyrenia Amateur Dramatic Society, our programmes can continue, and we can also plan further projects to reach more children and young people at risk, so we can win them back into society.”

She added: “Now, more than ever, we rely on supporters like KADS, as SOS Kinderdorf International will cease its partial funding as of 2018, to focus on countries in crisis”.
KADS is On The Road with The Older They Get

KADS have decided to take their next production on the road.
Written by KADS member, Phil Lucock, The Older They Get is set in the aptly named “St. Kads Home for the Elderly”. The story surrounds four aged protagonists and the long suffering staff who fights through a series of misunderstandings and are totally oblivious to the mayhem they cause.

Four productions are planned, all as “Food and Fun” evenings, with a three course meal provided along with the comedy production.
The performances will take place at the Pia Bella Hotel in Girne, on Friday and Saturday 25th and 26th March, from 7pm.
The second set of performances, initially planned for 18th and 19th March, will take place at the Mountain View Hotel, in Karaoğlanoğlu, in May. Dates will soon be confirmed.
Invitations are 60tl to include a 3 course meal. Invitations are available at the Lambousa Saturday market at Le Chateau Lambousa in Lapta, and The Food Lodge in Girne.

Proceeds will be donated to SOS Children’s Village and KAR.
