Kibtrek is going to put electric up by 50% next month and another 50% the month after there for raising it more than 100% over next 2 months. All this because of the ones who don’t pay. (:Z)(

I suspect it’s more because the price of fuel has increased massively over the past few months. Most countries’ electricity suppliers have done/continue to do the same. In the U.K. from what I read many smaller suppliers have gone out of business.

With the value of the lira trading at or around 9 at this time last year. And the value against sterling is now around 18. It is not a surprise to see commodity and service charges rise at a similar rate.

In the U.K it is quite correct that several smaller utility suppliers have ceased trading over the past year. It seems that they could not secure their wholesale gas supplies at the price that they had planned and were having to purchase on the open market at a time of general shortage, which they could not afford.
This has meant that their customers, whilst having their supplies uninterrupted, have now been switched to another supplier, with all previous price agreements cancelled. To add to this, the regulator's individual unit price cap has been lifted, resulting in price rises of typically 54% in April followed by another rise in September, pushing even more U.K people into dire fuel poverty. The U.K government's response to this is to reduce bills by £200 this year, with the £200 to be repaid by a £40 charge on everyone's bill for the next five years. Generous Boris. The actual gas producers - chiefly BP and Shell - have as a consequence of inflated wholesale prices, recorded multi-billion pound profits as a result! Nice.

I read in one of the local newspapers last week, that we will be going back to the old billing system, or at least that is the plan. Incremental rises per so many K/W depending on usage, more you use, the higher the tariff kind of thing. My last bill was over 600 TL and I worked out it would be over 1200 if it was with the new charges. It was supposed to be announced the following day, but then there was the incident down in Catalkoy. Unfortunately I did not bookmark the article, and can't remember the figures given now.

Electricity going up, petrol going up again and also medication makes the wage increase look pointless.

Google Translation:-

A new era in electricity…
According to the new decision of the Council of Ministers, the electricity multi-tariff system will be abolished as of March 1.

Yusuf Avcıoğlu, a former member of the Board of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority, drew attention to the details of the decision in his statement on his social media account, and said, "The Prime Minister's phrase 'Soft Transition' be beneficial to all of us..."

Yusuf Avcıoğlu's statement is as follows:

The Council of Ministers quietly approved the New Electricity Development Regulation and published it in the Official Gazette. With the New Regulation, the Multiple Tariff System was abolished and a return to the Old Tariff System was made. Moreover, the published Regulation was shared with an EMPTY TABLE, as if mocking our minds.

What does this mean?

Electricity Bills are determined monthly to cover the period between the first day of each month and the last day of each month, so the old system will continue until March 1, 2022.

Therefore, the Council of Ministers left the new unit prices to be implemented within the framework of the New Tariff System, so to speak, by pulling the pin of the bomb, into the arms of the New Kib-Tek Board of Directors to be appointed by the New Government.

The new unit prices will be determined by Kıb-Tek and will enter into force by being published on the website.

I would also like to point out that the Electricity Unit Costs, which are currently being applied as 0.98 TL, are 2.70 TL.

In the words of the Prime Minister, "Soft Transition", good luck to all of us...
