Hi,

Looking for the best Baklava sweet shop in Nicosia or Kyrenia. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

It is a pastry, including nuts and honey or syrup. Here it is usually treated as an after dinner desert, but it can really be thought of as a pastry (like profiteroles for example) and eaten with morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Sorry I cant advise where to buy it : I love it but avoid it like the plague as even looking at it puts two pounds weight on. You might try to open markets where they sell local products, or the Büyük Pazar in Lefkoşa. Or there are plenty of recipes on Wikipedia if you want to try making your own.

Lemar stores also sell them but was wondering if I could find a dedicated confectionery shop which sell the more authentic / home-made ones.

They also have them at Lemar stores in Nicosia but they are mediocre. I'll hunt around!

Take a trip to Petek's in Famagusta, you will not go wrong. Probably the best on the island.
