Why has the price of Spuds gone through the roof?

Or have they started importing them from the UK. (Joke)

I don't know the answer to your question but it seems to me that they have several seasons of new potato here and the price goes up when the new ones come in and then gradually reduce until the next crop.

At our chippy in UK we are paying £8.50 per bag up from £5.50 last season. However they are direct from farmer. Maris Piper is the variety.
