Where can I buy avocados??

Good morning does anyone know how I can get tasty edible avocados please? The ones here & on the other side are like rocks, I carefully try to ripen them by putting in a paper bag in a cupboard but they only go black & inedible - any suggestions please?

I have the same problem...

You could try microwaving one for 1 minute, turning it over half way, and then watch it like a hawk for a couple of days, looking for the brief period in which it becomes edible, before turning into a black, soggy mess!

Any other suggestions gratefully received...

I have mine from Supreme. Just put them amongst my lemons and for some reason they ripen!

If you put a banana in the paper bag with the avocado it will ripen in a few days. Bananas emit ethylene which speeds up the ripening process of fruit. Tried and tested many times.

I just put flour in a brown bag and they ripen in a couple of days. Sometimes i add an apple but it works without one.

Our advocado tree this year was wonderful, we have had over 100, and still picking, but as there were so many we pick them as fast as we can eat them. The secret I found was a dark bag and a banana. 3-4 days at most and from being hard, they are just right! Anyone got any new avocado recipes?
