Has anyone seen Worcester Sauce anywhere on the East side of Girne or Magusa area recently? Searched high and low, but failed to date.

If you can't find any, it's really easy to make. I do a vegetarian (actually it's vegan) one as the real stuff has anchovies in. If you are interested, can dig out the recipe, but there are plenty online.

Thanks for the tip alphamike, however found a supply in Metropole. Not cheap, just shy of 15tl for a small bottle, but what the hell for one of lifes small luxuries!

Glad that you managed to get some. Not too bad a price considering it's imported, and as you say, what the heck, it's one of those things that you have to have. I had to make it out of necessity as couldn't find a veggie one, although Geo Watkins Mushroom Ketchup is a pretty good alternative, and I have seen that here in the past.

The search for Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce ended successfully today in Alsancak! Gul Bakery have some. Go early to avoid disappointment

I paid 27tl for the sauce plus a loaf of bread so I'm assuming nearer £2 than £3. Not sure how much it usually is as its the sort of thing you don't buy that often. Illeli do sell massive bottles of it but at 2-3 drops at a time I think you'd be leaving it in your will.

Don't know about that, I put a good few dashes into tomato juice with ground celery seed, so can go through quite a bit at times. Can't get any tomato juice though locally at the moment, and of course, that's what I am craving right now.

Stick some vodka in to make the sauce go further

That would just water it down, although not a bad idea. 'Cos I make my own, it's definitely not expensive, so I do not grudge a few good dashes, and even if it was, you can't be paltry with what you enjoy, or it's not worth having.

Sounds like Hilltop got a bargain then.
It's still way cheaper to make it yourself if you have the spices already, but I suppose a bit of an outlay if you don't.
