Re: Conservative leader - a poll
Can I ask a friend?!
As a long standing Conservative I am at this present time having my character built and struggling to see why I still would support them. The Labour are not electable in terms of their leadership, direction and policies, the Lib Dem’s are a no because they are wanting to remain in the EU and the Brexit party will fade away once Brexit in whatever form is delivered. The rest if we are honest about it are sadly only there to provide support in the event of a no overall majority.
For me it’s has to be someone who will galvanise the party back together, bring back the lost support and deliver Brexit by the 31st October 2019. So will need to think about this one. I have reservations about most of the candidates, not only because of their views on Brexit but also their future policies, whether they can bring the party back together and secure the majority needed to govern. Plus of course considering any past misjudgements or misdemeanours.
Not an easy choice.

Andrea Leadsom is also running but not on your poll.

See now she has been eliminated, along with Esther McVay and another. Boris has topped the ballot in the first round.

Re: Conservative leader - a poll
Leadsom, McVey and Harper eliminated in first round voting,
Johnson polled most votes in round 1 with over 100.
Hunt was next with 40 odd, followed by Gove. The rest all got thro to the next round as they each polled more than 17 votes each.
Whilst maybe none of the 10 still in the race may appeal it would be interesting to see who is your favourite or to put it another was the best of a bad bunch. Let’s face it one of them will be the next PM and nothing we can do about it. Just vote for the fun of it,

I voted Rory Stewart and wouldn’t have minded Andrea Leadsom but she is out. Sajid Javid I would be happy with.

Re: Conservative leader - a poll
So I have amended the poll to remove Matt Hancock and checked the box "If enabled users are able to change their vote."
So this is round 2 - I am voting as before
(and should record the vote here 1st round - boris 6,rory 5 and Hunt 1 I guess)

Voted. I voted as if I was a Tory MP.
If I was voting as a party member or joe public it would be different.

Re: Conservative leader - a poll
I know that once we are down to the final two it’s the party members who will decide the final outcome. Of course joe public don’t have a say unless you decide to sign up as a Conservative and Unionist Party Member.erol wrote:When it gets down to 2 you can vote as party member.PoshinDevon wrote:....If I was voting as a party member ....

My vote was if I was a Tory MP.
Let’s see who the final two are but I suspect that if Johnson is there he will likely poll the most support from party members.

At least we can be happy that Boris has not been accused of being a wife-beater....
