Getting moles checked out.
Did I read somewhere that the state hospital has a scanner to check for skin cancer ? If so, can anyone tell me the procedure for getting this done. Despite my husband being told his mole is just that, I am not convinced, so want a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

If you type in 'skin cancer treatment' in the search box you will find the information about the state hospital in Girne.

Re: Getting moles checked out.
Hello,
I had same doubts, since I have plenty of moles on my body, some of which quite big. I went to Kamiloglu hospital (it is opposite HSBC bank in Girne). I got checked there by a dermatologist and luckily the results were good (none of my moles have the potential of becoming cancerous). I think you can go to any private hospital in GIrne and get it checked. From what I know from a friend who actually had a cancerous mole (luckily got treated on time!), a doctor can easily notice it, so I believe that in any private hospital in Girne (kolan, kamiloglu, near east, etc) you can get this diagnosed. I do not doubt the skill of the doctors in the government one (as most of them work in the private ones after their shift in government one), however, the waiting queue there is quite long and usually you need to go early morning to get a number and then wait for hours till your turn comes. Best of luck.

Re: Getting moles checked out.
Go the the Girne State Hospital and see Dr Fatma Deniz, she has the machine that can check moles and it is an excellent piece of kit!
You will need to make and appt with her so go to the back of the hospital and through the doors under the ramp, turn right and you will see a row of doors going down to your left .... I can't remember which number room but one of those will be where you make an appt to see her.
I took my husband last week and the consultation will cost you 15TL if there is anything untoward she will guide you to who you need to see.

Re: Getting moles checked out.
The equipment needed to check moles is the Molemax and this is available at The Girne Akçiçek Hospital. Dr Fatma is the doctor who can operate the equipment which was purchased by The North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust.

Yes, I agree but it needs to be stated that this excellent equipment was purchased by The North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust.

We went to see Dr Fatma today and apparently she is now working in Nicosia hospital. The dermatologist at the state hospital now is Dr Yucel Atakara in room 409, and the doctor is there Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Re: Getting moles checked out.
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but is this information still correct, in terms of where to get moles checked? Or can anyone recommend alternatives? Contact numbers or how to book appointments would be helpful.

I see a dermatologist called Dr Fatma, I don't know her surname to know if she is the Dr named by many, she works at the Etik hospital in Lefkosia, tel number 0392 223 4694. In November it was 250tl for a full body checkup.
