But an expensive option for making calls back to the UK. However the proliferation of free WiFi means that Skype/Messenger calls are easily achieved so that solves most people's needs... Just get some Skype credit and use it to phone home.Jambodave57 wrote: ↑Sun 24 May 2020 7:46 pmShame as being able to roam in TRNC was one of the reasons I stuck with Vodafone. Is it easy, and cheap, to buy a local prepaid SIM while visiting TRNC?
It is easy enough to buy a local sim card. Sim card has to be registered, so possibly best bought at a Telsim or Turkcell outlet where they can register it for you at no extra cost, you will need your passport.Jambodave57 wrote: ↑Sun 24 May 2020 7:46 pmShame as being able to roam in TRNC was one of the reasons I stuck with Vodafone. There is also a requirement to have a non-TRNC bought mobile phone registered, only if you need to use local sim for more than 90 days. This is a bit more of a faff, and hence the reason why some buy a cheap basic phone here, to use if coming to and fro, as it's already registered and tax paid.
