The first of many shops to close?
I went in to Best Sellers in Alsancak yesterday and signed in, only to be told I would probably be the last person to do so, as they were closing as of yesterday afternoon. What remained of their stock was moving to the Karakum shop. The DVD shop was also closing yesterday I believe. Going by the number of premises who have not yet opened I wonder if they are in the same position.

I believe it’s to do with landlords insisting on rent being paid, despite the fact businesses had no income for 2 months. Perhaps not in every case, but that could lead to some businesses closing for sure.

There is a new place in Ozankoy village that is advertising Pie Mash & Liquor. Don't know if it's the same guy but could be worth a trip over to try it and visit our wonderful butcher at the same time.

I understand it is the guy from Freddie’s now in the sports club in the village. Pie mash and liquor on Fridays. Open from 8.00 all day breakfasts, plus other choices. Wish them every success as so many others in the village have closed. And yes our fab butcher Yusuf is just around the corner.

You lucky so-and-sos, we will be there on Friday if possible. I'm glad Kemal (Ken) has found a new home and avoided the punitive back taxes due even though the restaurants were all closed. Good luck to him and Linda. Any cockneys in Ozankoy, Catalkoy and thereabouts put on your daisyroots and get down there!

Double whammy yesterday lovely pie and mash at the Ozankoy Sports bar in Ozankoy square, then got car aircon gassed on the way back at Mutlu garage in Karaoglanoglu. Happy days.
