Hedgehog, what do I do?

Just driven into our driveway and picked up a hedgehog in the lights.
No exit except for the gateway.
Should I feed it or try to find it tomorrow morning and take it to a field?

Why pick it up? What would the hedgehog have done if you had not seen it and picked it up?

Leave wildlife to it’s own resources. It will service.

There is nothing in my garden for it to feed off!

Treasure it, they are lovely, as said before cat or dog food but NO milk.

If you leave your gate open it will find its way out. Or take it to the nearest bit of greenery. It's probably looking for water so leave a shallow source of water outside for it and other animals to drink.

Wrap it in mud before cooking?

That way the needles come off easily.

Or so I’m told! w:)

I am surprised no one has mentioned do not give it milk. They are lactose intolerant and milk makes them very ill and often kills them.

If you’re going to feed it cat/dog food making sure no fish content(important) & water to drink. Left alone they will survive & travel fair distances over night foraging depending on what food is available.

Our dogs are forever dropping them on our bed in the middle of the night, curled up in a ball. I then have to trot down the road in my birthday suit to plonk said unhappy chappy back in a field. Don't worry, we have a private drive and aren't overlooked so no-one has to suffer, not even the hedgehog. Funnily enough hedgehogs do express their anger, they often pant in rage once out of the dog's mouth

My bad missed that one. Worth repeating though I think. Only today I saw something on my facebook from a hedgehog rescue centre reminding people as they had another one brought in that vomited congealed milk and then was dead within 20 minutes.
